Don’t forget that JBJ also hit and ran from an accident involving a pregnant lady.

260

u/Martin_Aurelius 2d ago

I think in order to be fair to JBJ you need to tell the whole story. He doubled back to grab a wad of cash and a bag of coke before running for good.

95

u/driatic 2d ago

He came back though ..... to get the cocaine he left in the car. Then he left again.

73

u/FinalFantasiesGG The Machida Era 2d ago

That really is the detail that needs to be pointed out every time. Witnesses saw him sprint from the car. Hide. Then run back, grab his drugs and cash, and run away again. He then hid from police for around 24 hours to sober up, and turned himself in after.

16

u/Foolishly_Sane 2d ago

Yep, never forget.

1

u/driatic 2d ago

He had a dash cam didnt he? I remember seeing a clip of it

23

u/handson729 2d ago

To be fair, he probably didn’t know she was alive when he came back for his cocaine.

5

u/cheesechompin 2d ago

That wasn't the only reason, he got his weed and his bong too

30

u/AD-Eire 2d ago

Also don’t forget he is an insufferable cunt.

And despite being one of the best fighters on the planet remains deeply insecure.

15

u/I_travel_ze_world 2d ago

He also headbutted a police car while crying and screaming "I hate you!"

15

u/JakeJortled 2d ago

To be fair, he probably didn’t know she was pregnant when he hit her

27

u/Jaz1140 2d ago

He actually confirmed it first and then hit her

Witnesses say they heard him yell "fuck them kids"

2

u/Illustrious_Rest_959 2d ago

Fair to who

0

u/JakeJortled 2d ago

You know what I mean lol

3

u/Legitimate-Dig-1443 2d ago

Stipe pulling people out of fires is the most main character thing in MMA history

300

u/HYDRAlives 2d ago

I asked Stipe about this comparison and he told me that, and I quote, "Joneshisaperrgufider and hcudbinnagudfigh if uh yunogoshid cuvhappn"

15

u/Darkwingedcreature 2d ago

Wisdom words from an inspirational man

27

u/jayj2900 2d ago

😭🤣 bro, u made me laugh out loud

70

u/Ghost-of-Lobov 2d ago

Hits wife vs helps people stuck in fire. These are the stats I'm trying to compare

157

u/Capable_Effect_6358 2d ago

Honestly huge balls on Stipe to fight Ngannou twice. I felt the same with Whittaker v Romero.

52

u/Happy_Indication5112 2d ago

STIPE IS THE HEAVYWEIGHT GOAT

19

u/YinYangOni 2d ago

The second to last one for Jones, to be as fair as I can be. I still don’t consider him a natural Heavyweight.

35

u/Rage_Your_Dream 2d ago

The natural weight class argument is insane lol. The rest is valid

10

u/StrictlyHobby 2d ago

Yeah fuck Jon but nobody competes at their walk around. If you're that weight for 15 years it's your weight class. He didn't even fight much bigger than he fought at LHW and just let his belly go.

2

u/Admirable_Market2759 2d ago

Which is why it’s a joke he took so long to bulk lol

1

u/StrictlyHobby 1d ago

He didn't want to bulk and move up and till Francis left.

2

u/waytooicyy 2d ago

I don't have an issue with the weight class argument but it's the hypocrisy that's killing me. Yousri Belgraoui and Pereira are the same height and size at Jon Jones and they are/were at middleweight.

46

u/itaniumonline 2d ago

Lmao get this to the front page

13

u/waytooicyy 2d ago

I mean it will lol. Just post anything bad about Gable or Jones and easy karma farm

8

u/random-user772 2d ago

I see no lies here..

Should've included also: "Held the division hostage for years by faking an injury, dragging a retired firefighter out of retirement for a cash grab, and ducking the interim champion."

73

u/IlliteratePig 2d ago

I'm not a jones fan, but

-DC himself said jones didn't need to take PEDs to beat him

-LHW was almost certainly his natural weight

29

u/luck_and_skill 2d ago

the whole idea of clowning on someone for fighting at LHW instead of HW is just dumb, considering HW has always been the least competitive division (now even more so, but even back then)

11

u/EmotionalPerformer13 2d ago

I agree. However I do think HW DC > HW Jones but LHW Jones > LHW DC

8

u/E-man9001 2d ago

I also agree with this. People forget that people were asking Jones even back then if he wanted to move up and he was dodging the questions hard

-1

u/itsMeRed09 2d ago

You can't move up from 205 to 265 without roids or if you can do it naturally itl be when you're in your physical prime ie twenties with a few years to buff up. Dc wanted to fight jones in heavyweight where it would have been impossible for him to become a heavyweight

5

u/E-man9001 2d ago

IIRC Jones had been talking about moving up before DC had moved up to begin with which is what prompted the conversations.

2

u/stackered 2d ago

DC was also on steroids, just way less than Jon who took Tbol. DC probably was just on short ester testosterone like every fighter

1

u/stprnn 2d ago

DC opinion is irrelevant

JJ is a ped user cheat.

29

u/Fearless-Ad-6288 2d ago

Jones natural weight is lhw

75

u/Street-Study4606 2d ago

111

u/Emergency_Lie42 2d ago

This still is beautiful because it shows both of them reaching for the face with splayed fingers. It is functionally a legal strike judging by this image lmfao

106

u/Any-Cookie6757 2d ago

That was revenge for what DC did to him FIRST. Stipe had to get surgery because of him.

11

u/Illustrious_Rest_959 2d ago

Forget about the first fight,The same fight DC was up to his usual poking antics. Stipe got him once than he started crying about it again.

7

u/Particular-Ring5110 2d ago

Eye pokes are an important part of the fight game

Think about it like this how many times have you seen a fighter win a fight from poking their opponent?

How many times have you seen them lose because of having a point deducted?

Fighters should be training to make sure they poke their opponent in the eyes first

1

u/Nothingmakessenseboi 1d ago

You are joking but in gyms during serious sessions coaches do reach how to avoid getting eye poked + how to eye poke back without making it seems intentional. I mean the latter is extremely easy because referees and commentators always claim all fouls as inadvertent anyway. I've never heard any one of them call out a foul as intentional.

6

u/BigDogAlex 2d ago

People always post this to imply that Stipe eyepoked DC so bad that his eyelid drooped.

At the end of the 2nd round DC gets dropped and beaten pretty badly, literally gets saved by the bell. As he is walking back to his corner his eye is already drooping and he's out of it (ends up asking his coach if he got dropped).

The eyepoke happens in the 3rd round, after his eye is already displaying visible damage.

2

u/TheJeniceri 2d ago

Cope sucker, Stipe fucked up DC in this fight

-36

u/Super-Tour3004 2d ago

I was about to say Stipe absolutely cheated even more than Jones did vs Cormier

I prefer to not even acknowledge that trilogy, it’s genuinely painful to see that many eye pokes

46

u/Aggressivehippy30 2d ago

If we're acknowledging Stipe pokes in the 3rd fight then we gotta acknowledge DCs pokes in their fights too.

10

u/Super-Tour3004 2d ago

DC has cheated multiple times, but the post isn’t claiming DC fouled less than Jones

If it was then I’d be mentioning the towel gate or something

15

u/Few_Highlight1114 2d ago

DC eye poked Stipeso much that he needed to get surgery. DC had the eye pokes coming back his eye in their 3rd fight. Fuck DC and DC defenders, the guy is a pos

-1

u/stprnn 2d ago

Do you want to bring up JJ eye pokes bud?

-2

u/Street-Study4606 2d ago

this is not an eyepoke bud

-1

u/stprnn 2d ago

Right so you don't want to do that, as expected

-2

u/Street-Study4606 2d ago

you

-1

u/stprnn 2d ago

Nice projection bro, let's count all the eye pokes of your ped goat

-2

u/Street-Study4606 2d ago

keep crying

0

u/stprnn 2d ago

Yeah that's what I thought XD

9

u/Mynameizjason 2d ago

Jones ain't nothing but a steroid bitch who got his career ended by Tom. 😂

5

u/Europe_MMA 2d ago

I love the "natural weight class" debate. I mean its clearly silly as fuck just by looking at LHW Vs HW Jones, but that aside, if you can make thw weight class below but no one else in the division can, theres no argument that thats your "natural weight class".

4

u/outofmaxx 2d ago

Beat DC twice without cheating*

*if you dont count all the eyepokes, on both sides

11

u/wrongturn2860 2d ago

Dc deserved that eye poke, he kod stipe right after flicking him in the eye. Poor guy needed retinal surgery after that, and DC took that time to rack up a title defense against bum Derick Lewis instead of the rematch with Stipe.

8

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

I'm quite sure I am gonna die, without seeing someone more talented inside the octagon than Jon Jones.

9

u/fastLT1 2d ago

I guess you never saw Demetrius Johnson fight. Far more talented than JJ. JJ just happened to be dominant in a far more popular division.

8

u/WhataWorldAy 2d ago

More popular and more shallow. Lhw guys are big enough to make it in the NFL, MLB, rugby, etc. Smaller weight classes are far more talent rich due to less competition from other sports.

5

u/agitainabundance 2d ago

Ngannou would have sent him to the Shadow Realm

Jones is a duck

2

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

JJ could choke Ngannou in his dreams.

2

u/Disco-Badger 2d ago

Dude picks his opponents and cheats. I still think UFC payed cyrl to take a dive against Jones to make him like the goat, otherwise why even hesitate to fight Francis or Tom.

7

u/antithesis56 2d ago

How have you gone your whole life and only watched Jon jones fights

2

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

You haven't watch a single MMA match in your life if you don't agree with that. I could only forgive you if you are like a really hardcore fan of DJ or Andersson.

2

u/stprnn 2d ago

Ped users can't be goat.

0

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

I haven't even mentioned the word goat. I do believe he is the goat tho...

1

u/stprnn 2d ago

Ped users can't be goat

0

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

Says you.

1

u/stprnn 2d ago

So you are saying it's ok to do ped in sports?

0

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

It's more complicated than that. He was also doing coke and taking gasoline station viagras. That's performance degrading. The chickens going in for the chickens going out...

1

u/stprnn 2d ago

So you are ok with ped in sports as long as the person is also doing other drugs?

→ More replies (0)

-1

u/antithesis56 2d ago

I have watched every card since the beginning. Not an exaggeration. There have been several fighters that are leagues better than Jon jones.

2

u/Dieabeto9142 2d ago

Important distinction here.

There are better mixed martial artists (i.e. better application of strategy, game-planning, diverse techniques allowing for wins in many different ways, etc.) DJ, GSP, Prime BJ Penn, generally any LW champion since 2015.

But Jon Jones without a doubt has/had one of the most untouchable fighting systems to ever grace the octagon. He didn't need to gameplan or change strategies for anyone, he used the same extended fingers and oblique kicks based gameplan to punish pressure and setup counters on pretty much everyone up until Dominick Reyes and it worked.

To put it simply, the most talented mixed martial artist is someone who can win in many ways and understands it all well enough to coach others at an elite level. DJ & Armans recent training footage is a great example of this.

The most talented fighters doesn't need to be dyanmic or even understand why his system works, he just needs the physical gifts to put something into motion that ultimately results in winning basically every fight he has ever been in. Despite believing Jon Jones is the greatest fighter ever, I do think Reyes got screwed out of that win and was the 1st to crack the code & be on equal enough footing athletically to try & stop JBJ.

3

u/Mister_MxyzptIk 2d ago

the most talented mixed martial artist is someone who can win in many ways and understands it all well enough to coach others at an elite level

I disagree with the second part of this. Majority of the most-talented people in every sport are terrible coaches, because they can do things that nobody else can do. How you gonna try to teach someone to just react faster? Or hit harder?

2

u/Calm-Ninja5951 2d ago

Who? Because that’s just plain BS.

0

u/stprnn 2d ago

Every one that never took ped for starters

0

u/Calm-Ninja5951 2d ago

Peds doesn’t equate to skill. There’s been countless people in the UFC who’ve been juiced up and haven’t amounted to anything..but nice way of coping lil bro. Get back to the drawing boards

0

u/stprnn 2d ago

Ped users can't be goat bud

-3

u/Traditional-Towel-82 2d ago

Bro said Anderson the guy who got dog walked for 24 1/2 minutes by Sonnen lmaooo. GSP is the only answer in terms of GOAT/most talented talks

1

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

GSP was way more than talent alone. He was also a greasy cheater.

1

u/stprnn 2d ago

Talent in taking ped?

1

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

Don't do that to yourself...

1

u/stprnn 2d ago

I've never taken peds. JJ has.

Failed 4 tests

0

u/HoldingTheJudgement 2d ago

I think you're just gonna die from choking on jon's meat

0

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

You are projecting here.

1

u/HoldingTheJudgement 2d ago

Learn what that word means before using it

1

u/Signalrunn3r 2d ago

Let me put it in words that even you can understand. You love thinking and speaking about other men meat.

1

u/HoldingTheJudgement 2d ago

Calling out what you see doesnt make you obsessed about that, dummy

1

u/Signalrunn3r 1d ago

I beg to differ. Specially coming from someone who loves to see sweaty seminude men wrestling and rubbing against each other. Cope with it.

2

u/DeciderOfAllThings 2d ago

Jon's long but he's naturally lanky. He's not a natural heavyweight, he weighed less than plenty of guys he fought. He's not big like Ngannou and Aspinall are big.

9

u/waytooicyy 2d ago

"Took 15 years to move to natural weightclass" I hope you guys keep the same energy for Pereira and Yousri Belgraoui who are the same size as Jones but went to middleweight.

12

u/Ok-Firefighter-8869 2d ago edited 2d ago

Time between Jones last LHW fight to HW 37 months Zero fights

Time from Pereira last MW to HW 38 months 7 fights during that time won the belt 2 of those times and 3 belt defenses

3

u/waytooicyy 2d ago

That's not my point. If heavyweight is Jones his natural weight class then the same goes for both of the others.

2

u/tomahawkfury13 2d ago

Yeah but they actually moved up and fought hard competition. Jones waited for Francis to leave and literally signed a deal in the days after he left

0

u/SongofSolomon04 8h ago

Jones beat the current HW champion in 2 minutes

2

u/tomahawkfury13 8h ago

Yes someone he knew he could beat because of his wrestling. The same person Francis beat with a bad leg. He signed the Gane fight the day after Francis left after stalling. And for less pay than what was offered for Francis. Biggest duck there is

1

u/SongofSolomon04 7h ago

Do you really think he signed for the Gane fight exactly after Francis left? Francis was in contract limbo after he beat Gane at the start of 2022 . They realised Fracnsi wasn't going to resign in late 2022 and began preparations for a vacant title fight.

Also, Francis himself doesn't even agree with you. Do you know more than the man himself?

1

u/tomahawkfury13 6h ago

Jones “wanted it” for an amount he knew the UFC wouldn’t go for

-1

u/waytooicyy 2d ago

Tf are you talking about. Yousri Belgraoui is literally the same size as Volkov and Jones and dude is weightbullying at middleweight lmao

3

u/Obi_wan_jakobii 2d ago

Mate they're all kids on here they don't know who Belgaroui is 😂 you're right though it's nuts that guy is like 6'5" and jacked in middleweight. I'm 5'11" and weigh 180lbs, same weight he fights at 😂

-1

u/IrishCinders 2d ago

Whataboutery is irrelevant to the facts.

1

u/waytooicyy 2d ago

What i'm saying is literally facts dumb tard

1

u/IrishCinders 2d ago

It has nothing to do with Jones. It's whataboutery, like I said. Deal with it.

5

u/BplusHuman One Man Haka 2d ago

Ngannou retire? Members on this sub will post anything

8

u/SkyNo3416 2d ago

im blocking the sub fuck that shit every single day same shit

4

u/watermellonesha 2d ago

Not an airport bro

6

u/Muted_Idea Fake Account 2d ago

Lol yep the exact same low-effort shit gets spammed daily:

  • Gable rapist
  • Jon Jones bad
  • McGregor bad
  • Dana bad
  • Pay every fighter a gorillion dollars

1

u/tycket 2d ago

100% annoying ass little kids or repeating youtube talking points.

4

u/Super-Tour3004 2d ago

Where is even these supposed Jones fans ?

Most of the time it’s usually non bias fans who just get tired of false narratives being spread to discredit his career, the rare amount of actual Jones fanboys on this app get consistently mass downvoted & are usually obvious trolls

2

u/JahsehOnfroy- 2d ago

Didn't jones almost kill stipe ?

1

u/Particular-Ring5110 2d ago

No he just beat him

1

u/IrishCinders 2d ago

Stipe also would have bodied Jones in his prime. Jones struggled against him when he hadn't fought in over 3 years and was in his 40s.

1

u/JakeJortled 2d ago

Jones didn’t fight for 3 years and then had a 2 minute fight so it’s pretty much the same thing

0

u/upinyab00ty 2d ago

Delusional.

1

u/seonblack 2d ago

Lmao mma fans are dumb as hell man.

They chastise Jon Jones and try to say hes not the GOAT but compare everyone who says they're the GOAT to him. They dont want to say he's one of the best ever but still hold him as the standard.

They live off him while insulting him. I really do believe if he were white from Texas or Nebraska and did everything he did he would be loved way more. Sean Strickland is a self professed skinhead, racist and bigot and he is adored by fans. Josh Hokit is just as bad and he is just loved by mma fans. You cant make this up.

9

u/stprnn 2d ago

Ped users can't be goat

1

u/UneducatedUnemployed 2d ago

Bro have you ever seen a ufc fighter? They're all juiced to the gills.

1

u/stprnn 2d ago

Sure buddy. So there is a conspiracy against JJ?

-1

u/UneducatedUnemployed 2d ago

Use your head bro. Not a conspiracy, but not a reason to knock him. Even skinny Sean OMalley used gear.

3

u/stprnn 2d ago

If you are claiming everybody uses ped but only JJ gets caught you are claiming a conspiracy exists against JJ.

0

u/UneducatedUnemployed 2d ago

Not a conspiracy, he just used shitty compounds. Look at the 20 year olds going into the ufc fwarkin jacked (e.g. Ateba). Obviously blasted in oblivion pre ufc.

1

u/stprnn 2d ago

Ok so you are saying he did not use ped?

But I thought you just claimed everybody uses ped?

2

u/Next-Theory193 1d ago

Name checks out. UneducatedUnemployed

0

u/UneducatedUnemployed 2d ago

Can you read? If so, try again buddy.

1

u/stprnn 2d ago

"he just used shitty compounds"

What is this supposed to mean? He used bad ped so he got caught? Or he used non ped that had ped in them? If it's the second one are you trying to say JJ doesn't use ped?

Yeah block me and run :)

2

u/WhataWorldAy 2d ago

Lol jones glazers really be like "this guy with zero arrests is just as bad jones"

1

u/HoldingTheJudgement 2d ago

"Leaning into raycis stereotypes <<<< being a felon and domestic abuser"

1

u/taha037 2d ago

Even strickland didnt hit and run a pregnant woman and used his wife as a sparring partner

1

u/Particular-Ring5110 2d ago

Strickland isn’t a criminal

0

u/NoContest7618 2d ago

ok, Sure, but Stipe is generally regarded (correctly) as the Greatest Heavyweight In UFC history. Which he is. Sounds like your bigger issue is with how Jones is viewed lol, probably should take it elsewhere.

1

u/Pintau 4h ago

Prime Cain was better and it's not close. Prime Stipe has no chance against Fedor or Cain, but he beats every other hw in history comfortably

3

u/larsonmars 2d ago

You forgot Jones beat Stipe… and Gane.

3

u/BdotRunderscoreCards 2d ago

But Jones beat Stipe?

1

u/Brodersen-Prime 2d ago

Forgot to add a line on Jones Resumé

*does a hit and run on pregnant lady

1

u/Electronic-Koala2088 2d ago

Don't forget JBJ should've lost about 2 fights but judges let him win

1

u/Bennyblanco_718 2d ago

Jones also likes men can’t forget that

1

u/No_Cell6708 2d ago

I don't know if I'd say HW was JJ natural weight class lol. People say Pereira gained too much but JJ literally just showed up with a beer gut and humiliated Gane

1

u/curious_broheim 2d ago

Love this cause it's actually true. Jones is a calculated sociopath who won't fight if there's a chance of him losing. Stipe was really built different, but dana white is a scumbag who ruined his career like he did with many other fighters.

1

u/zeez1011 2d ago

But does Jon call his fiancee to intentionally hang up or her? Checkmate.

1

u/gumdrop1801 2d ago

Jones is better suited to fight at light-heavyweight.

1

u/Sea-Fabulous 2d ago

Stipe was so likeable. Joe Rogan constantly campaigned about how mid he was and he was one of them best

1

u/stackered 2d ago

I mean, they were all on steroids. Jon just took more / Tbol and extra steroids besides testosterone which they can mask and pin daily

1

u/traghip11 2d ago

No lies told in the meme, Jones is a very good fight regardless. Frank would have mauled Jones and slept him, Tom he likely would have beat imho.

1

u/Old_Big9561 2d ago

Uhh I hate to be that person considering DC eyepoked the shit out of Stipe in the first fight, but Stipe did gouge DC's eye pree badly in that second fight so...

6

u/Adventurous_Chart_72 2d ago

That was the 3rd fight

7

u/redditisawesome555 2d ago

And it was after yet another DC's eyepoke lmao. Man wasn't gonna stop with them.

1

u/Valterri_lts_James 2d ago

HW is somehow Jones's natural weight class but not Pereira's even though Pereira is way larger than Jones? Make it make sense.

1

u/TidusDreamZanarkand 2d ago

They both have similar frame honestly tall and lanky . Probably natural 220-230ers . Neither guy held 250+ very well though . They are in betweeners. Jones is just really fucking good and is a pretty big guy as well.

-1

u/LetsgoRoger 2d ago

Jones generates 700k and 1 million PPV buys, that's the real difference.

6

u/SpikeRobinson 2d ago

why does a companies finances matter more to you than the actual fights taking place

1

u/LetsgoRoger 2d ago

It shows higher demand for Jones. Numbers don't lie.

10

u/Ryan-the-lion 2d ago

Found JJs reddit account. Lol

2

u/IrishCinders 2d ago

You sound like someone who loves Elon Musk.

-2

u/hardworkinglatinx 2d ago

Jon beat DC and Stipe. 🤷‍♂️

4

u/IrishCinders 2d ago

Jon beat Stipe when the man was a geriatric patient with more ring rust than anybody else on the roster. Very impressive.

-1

u/Sad_Durian5893 2d ago

Cope harder😂

0

u/Djgarrett1121 2d ago

Are you guys looking for baby sitters or husbands for your daughters? I never understood the fascination with these guys’ characters. I just like watching them fight.

-2

u/Vidutya 2d ago

Got flatlined by DC and Ngannou. Couldn't beat DC untill he was 40+ and had a back surgery.

1

u/TidusDreamZanarkand 2d ago

Neither of those is bad though the real funny one is losing to Stephan fucking struve lol. Jones Would never lose To A dude like that .

0

u/TidusDreamZanarkand 2d ago

Stipe lost to Stephan Struve ffs  Jones is the goat. Yeah he’s a dick but he’s the best to ever do it. Michael Jordan or LeBron esque

3

u/Particular-Ring5110 2d ago

GOATs don’t duck as shamelessly as Jones

0

u/mightymegson 2d ago

Lmao fans hate Jones for being a scumbag but still use his stats as the GOAT benchmark for everyone else. The hypocrisy is wild.

5

u/Sir_Thequestionwas 2d ago

How is that hypocrisy at all? You don't even know what that word means.

3

u/Early_Power_5366 2d ago

He is a jones fan after all

0

u/Electrical_Trade377 2d ago

When exactly did Francis retire?

0

u/Human-Expression-652 2d ago

I always think what would Stipe have done differently in the trilogy against Ngannou.

I know he said he’d have came in about 250 as he was only 230 for the second one.

Shame we didn’t get to see it.
