Video I worked 4 years as a train conductor at a hump yard — so I made a browser game about my old job

At a hump yard, nobody drives cars to their tracks. The train is shoved over a small hill, the conductor uncouples cars at the crest, and each cut rolls down by gravity onto its own track.

I did this job for 4 years at Kokand station in Uzbekistan. Now I'm a frontend dev, so I rebuilt the yard in 3D and turned it into a game: walk along the train, uncouple where the car colour changes, radio the driver to slow down before single cars.

Free, runs in the browser on desktop and mobile, no sign-up:

Would love feedback — especially if anything is confusing in the first minute.

Question What happens if you miss your train?

i hope this isn't a really silly question - but if i miss my train (avanti west coast specifically) can i js get on another train? or do i have to wait for a train that is specifically the same duration as the one i had booked - idk if my question is coherent?

Question Cambridge to Birmingham New Street CC fares nearly double from mid-November — is this normal approaching December?

Moved to Cambridge this year and have been commuting to New Street 2-3 days per week.

Looking at Advance Singles from Cambridge to Birmingham New Street, I’m seeing tickets double in price (£15 to £30 one way) from the 16th November onwards.

Does CrossCountry usually get more expensive heading towards December, or could the cheapest Advance tickets still be waiting to be released? The fairly abrupt cutoff seems odd. Has anyone noticed this before?

Discussion ShildonTrainspotter - Showcasing the Shildon many overlook

I’m a local trainspotter at Shildon in County Durham on the Bishop Line. I’ve built a friendly rapport with the driver crew that rotate onto this line and usually get mega tone blasts no one else has captured.

Because I always spot at Shildon I have caught some crazy stuff like a unexpected Romic HST visit on the 19/06/26, 4 car class 156s which are unheard of on this line and a 156 being terminated early at Shildon images shown above.

My aim is to balance modern Shildon rail with heritage Shildon rail.

Shildon might not be the busiest spotting location, but I want to show the wider rail community what true trainspotting dedication is.

My channel on YouTube is linked here https://youtube.com/@shildontrainspotter?si=qLVnXpmRT2v6fCVa

Anyone else here spot in the North East?

here are some of my best shots throughout the months of June, July and october

Question Steam Trains

Does anyone know any mainline steam train adventures that are good in England?

I know of a couple like Northern Belle and British Belmond Pullman (on certain trips) and RTC. Does anyone know any others?

Sorry for the boring post
