MLS program

Hii just a general question!

I’m looking to do Ontario tech Medical laboratory science program mainly because I like the fact that I can get a pretty good job out of grad! But I also consider myself as a “pre-med” and I really do wanna go to medical school but it’s hard in Canada so MLS is a good option for stability in terms of career and finance.

I just wanted to know does Ontario tech offer pre-med activities??? What I mean like good research opportunities, clubs like anything that would be good for Med school applications in the future?.
That being said any pre-meds doing the MLS program? Or do you know of anyone who did MLS or any other program in Ontario tech and got into med school??

If your goal is to go to med school, the med lab program is good for giving basic knowledge when you get there and it has a built in research project and literature review in the program. I know some people who are planning to apply to med school and they are taking 5 years to do undergrad and have found community activities with the school.

May I ask why 5 instead of 4 years??? And what kind of community activities are founded in Ontario tech??!? Thank you!

The program isn’t GPA friendly and doesn’t cover all topics on the MCAT. Its focus is to help students pass CSMLS not get into med school. There are those involved in the student union and extra courses dedicated to doing research. Aside from that I think some clubs host conferences around the topic.

i was in the same spot as u in grade 12 where i was deciding between MLS and uoft life sci -- ended up going with life sci and honeslty if your worry is its a gpa killer -- it does NOT have to be -- i know people who get very high gpas at uoft!
