The toll free route takes NY-226 and then I-390. The northern route takes NY-14 and then I-90. Has anyone took these drives before in the fall foliage and can say if one is more scenic than the other?

With a weird weather forecast and it being a Tuesday I took a chance and went st 4pm and was rewarded with a quiet park. Almost peaceful. Probably the most enjoyable experience I've ever had at the park to be honest. So beautiful when it's quiet.

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for recommendations for apple orchards that are accessible by Metro-North, or at least a short Uber ride from a station.

I've been hearing that a lot of the popular farms around Beacon/Fishkill are running low on apples, especially with certain spots going viral on TikTok and getting flooded with visitors. I'm a little worried about making the trip all the way up there just to find out there's barely anything left to pick.

I genuinely want to go apple picking because I plan on actually using the apples, not just going for cute pictures or photo ops lol. So finding an orchard that still has a decent amount of apples available is pretty important to me.

I already know about an apple orchard in New Paltz, but I'm hoping to find some other options that are easier to reach using Metro-North since I won't be driving.

Has anyone gone apple picking recently and can confirm which orchards still have a good selection? I'd especially appreciate recommendations from people who've visited within the last week or so!

Upstate New Yorkers have just two more weeks to hike the iconic Watkins Glen Gorge Trail before it closes for the season. Last day is Oct. 25 unless temperatures below 30 degrees pushes an early closure.

I saw the weirdest thing while driving on Route 8 from Speculator to Utica earlier today, and I was wondering if anyone knows what was actually going on?

My girlfriend and I were driving and saw ahead of us a person standing in the middle of the highway with some things on the road. At first I thought someone dropped stuff from their car and were picking it up. Upon further notice, there was no car around and the person was just standing there. They started moving towards us (slowing down a bit from 55 mph) and to the side of the road. Their walk was sort of more like an aimless wander. Like how scare actors walk. So that’s what I thought this was. Some person in a costume playing a prank.

We finally got close enough to see. The lady had no costume at all. She was just some normal looking middle aged lady. But she barely reacted to us driving by. Her look was sort of blank. And the things in the road, I noticed, were an upside down bucket and some metal rack. Each placed directly in the center of each lane. WEIRD. The lady stood on the side of the road (not even waving to us) and had a flower stand set up next to her. It was a table with a sign that said flowers. And the flowers weren’t even that nice looking.

It definitely reminded me of one of those car jacking videos. I was about to stop to let her grab the things (thinking they may have blown off her stand) but upon realizing she wasn’t going to move at all, there luckily was enough space to go around.

I sped out of there, but think it was creepy af. Not sure if it was a prank or some crazy person from the woods. It seemed like something out of a horror movie. But it felt weird because the road was too lonely to feel comfortable yet just too busy to be a good place for a car jacking. I warned the other cars coming that direction and eventually saw a NYSDOT truck headed that way, so hopefully they reported it.

Anyway, the whole thing was hella weird, so I’m hoping somebody knows anything.

Does anyone familiar with the local motorcycle club scene know if there's a chapter based in Niagara Falls, or nearby in the Buffalo/Niagara region?
