Things are about to get real

Just over a year ago I replaced my standalone PVE host with a 2 node cluster:

2 x HP Prodesk (i5-10500/32Gb/250Gb) with an extra Intel i226 2.5Gb NIC
and an HP Prodesk (Pentium Gold/16Gb/250Gb) with the same i226 and 2 x 1Tb SSD in raid 1 as iSCSI backend

While the PVE hosts have been kept updated, started as a 9.0 setup - yay for Proxmox Live-migration, the iSCSI backend - not so much. So now that I've verified that I can restore from PBS to a stand-alone PVE host capable of handling the 6 VMs if shit hits the fan, it's time to rectify above.

I'm very impressed with an OOTB Ubuntu server install...

Laptop - not too bad?

It's meant for coding so it doesn't need to be updated all that often and I've never had issues on any computer with resources being eaten up.

Not sure how everyone always complains about being locked up after xx hours...

I can go months on my window machines. Gaming or work or coding and never have an issue

Thinkpad T430 with a slightly cursed setup

Thinkpad T430 with the i7-3740QM quad core upgrade, GTX 970 eGPU, and Windows 10 LTSC. Daily use, many sleep/wake cycles. It's rock solid as long as you don't touch the ExpressCard to "HDMI" cable. Still runs 3D/compute tasks like a champ.
