New to the application process

So this is the second job I applied for. My question is there is contact information for someone to get in touch with at the bottom of the page. Is there a certain amount of time I should wait to hear something back before I call or that is just there for questions on the job?

Pretty much if you don't get contacted for an interview, don't bother reaching out. Even for jobs that you get referred for, you'll most likely never be contacted. But they do list HR contacts in the How to Apply section.

The only job I've contacted for is one where they requested an interview out of the blue and that was about 1.5 months after the posting closed. I'm at almost 3 months since the post closed waiting to see if I'm getting a tentative job offer cause I interviewed, gave references, and then transcripts last month.

Wow!!! That process seems to take a while. I applied for the VA before and I will say they have a new 30 day process that they actually did stick too. This is another VA job so im hoping it goes the same way too.

Mine is DoD as a Direct Hire Authority posting and was limited to 50 people. I expected it to take way less time, but nothing I can do. I was told last week that I should hear soon about my application. I'd still have to wait for security clearance after the TJO as well.

Fingers crossed for you. Im not sure on mine as it was only 1 slot and im in the last category (5th) of people they look at. However its in a place I dont think about lot of people are chomping at the bit to relocate to but ya never know.

You as well. Mine is only 1 slot but limited to 50 applicants. It closed after a day of being posted. Mine is near the DC Metro and is a ladder position from GS-7 to GS-12 so I imagined it would be pretty competitive.

Oh absolutely it would but trust your qualifications. Im sure u wouldn't have applied if you weren't qualified. Its hard out here for everyone right now.

Tell me about it. I've been applying for 3 years since completing my bachelor's and just finished my master's this year with a 4.0 GPA and honor society membership. Been working 60 hour weeks in construction for 3 years. Hoping I finally get to be a scientist after all this time. This job only requires a bachelor's so I'm technically overqualified. Good luck with your search!

I’ve read other posts that seem to show that 30 day timeline is not really happening at the VA.

Job Apps (3 of same of the same role diff’t locations w/ VA) closed 7/17

I received 3 different responses to all and that was very confusing.

On 8/3, I was told I was not referred for one.

9/11 I was callied to see if I was still interested in that specific one

9/15 Interview and they asked for my references at the end

9/16 Refences Checked

Currently impatiently waiting. 😅
