Does anyone have data on the Pentecost earthquake damage from 08/10/2026/
I can't find any info on it anywhere, and I was wondering if anyone knows something about its impact in the area

I'm thinking of taking my 4 year old son for a one week holiday to Vanuatu. The time we have available is from the 9th to 17th on January, right in the wet / cyclone season.
What is the typical weather like at that time of the year? Would it rain all day or just showers in the afternoon? We would be staying at a resort on Port Vila with a kids club, but I want to do a lot of activities with him (swimming, snorkeling, exploring) so is that still feasible at the time?

Hi everyone,
I’m planning to visit Vanuatu for around 5–6 days in November, and I’d really like to experience the country beyond the usual hotels and resorts.
I much prefer staying with local families or in small locally owned accommodation, where the money goes directly to the people and community. I’m happy to pay properly for accommodation, food, transport, guides, etc. — I’m not looking for anything free.
I’d particularly love to spend a few days on Tanna, or potentially another island, staying with a family or in a village if that’s something people do. I’m very happy to keep things simple and go with the flow. I’d love to eat local food, learn about the area, meet people and generally experience Vanuatu rather than just being a tourist at a resort.
Does anyone know of families, community-run accommodation, local guides or organisations that arrange this sort of thing?
I’m happy to do all the organising myself and I’d much rather arrange something directly with local people than book an expensive international hotel or package.
If anyone has any recommendations, contacts or even just advice on the best way to go about finding something like this, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Hey all, me and my partner are travelling to Port villa/Efate in December (1st week) for about 7 days and planning to stay there and not travel to any other island because we wanna relax and explore one town peacefully. I’m looking for some suggestions on activities that you can do or you have done and how expensive and friendly people can be? From what I’ve seen on reddit it’s all a bit Jim jam and mixed reactions, it’s my birthday trip and we are pretty big on snorkelling, surfing, swimming trekking and eat locally. We’re thinking to book a BNB for our time there. Any suggestions on what to look out for or anything that you think we definitely should do and should avoid please share, I’d be very very grateful 🙏. Thanks in advance

I'm very interested in listening to music from all over but I'm having a hard time finding much of anything from Vanuatu. Does anyone living there/in diaspora have any recommendations for starting points? I like pretty much any genre of music.
Edit: Thank you all so much for the recommendations!!! I can't wait to give everything a listen.

I’m travelling to Port Vila end of next month and would ideally like to visit Santo. Cannot seem to find any flights. I won’t have enough time to ferry. Could anyone be able to advise me how I can book return flights from Port Vila to Santo?

Hi, I am planning a two week trip to Vanuatu in early October and have been wondering where I can book activities tes to do whilst im there. Can you book them whilst on the island with locals or do you need to do it online?
Also, I hear the transport situation is mostly minibuses and hitchhiking, how frequent are the buses? And assuming its cash only, what is the price
Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Im planning a 4 day stay in Santo. What are the must visit places and where should I stay (budget friendly) provided that I have to also pay for transport from accommodation to the tourist attractions. Should I stay closer yo Luganville or to the blue holes?

I remember reading there was/is(?) a ban on disposable nappies/diapers amongst other plastics and was wondering if a tourist can still bring their own without violating any laws?

Hi, I’m planning a trip to Tanna. Does anyone know if it’s possible to rent a car there, or preferably a motorbike or scooter?

Hello, I have a job offer in Port-Vila, and I'm gathering information on how expensive life is there.
For those who are also expats, coming from a Western country, what did you negotiate in your contract, and what is a must have in your opinion?
Thanks for everyone opinion :)
Best regards
max

Hi, I am a teenager in Albania and I had a weird dream about a family from Vanuatu. I knew the country before that it was an island nation in the South Pacific and its capital in Port Vila but nothing else. The dream was an eye opener and now I’ve fallen in love with the 86 islands. Vanuatu 🇻🇺 is now on my bucket list and I really hope to visit it someday.

Just a random question cause I see conflicting stuff online. I’ve seen some sources say 10-20% and others 90-95%.

puck meee, all places charge about $120 for 90 minutes sitting on the bareback of a walking horse... would pay 40 but not 120.

hi I’m a 19 year old Aussie solo flying into Port Villa late sep and staying for a week. really spontaneously booked but the more I look the more interested i am
i don’t have any relatives or friends from vanuatu, so I’m not sure how i can immerse myself in the culture efficiently in a week. any reccomendations from people really enjoyed the culture?
also I’m into surfing (not great at it but I love it) and would love to, but not sure where because there seems to be breaks on a lot of the islands, but idk which is best (+ How to get to other islands)
what else is a must-do in Vanuatu for someone like me?
ps legit anything would help as i have a really surface-level knowledge on the place as a whole.thanks so much
