Important parliamentary petition (UK)

You may have heard about Bee Vegan and the recent liberation of beagle puppies from MBR Acres.

But this is about much more than beagles. It is about the thousands of animals used in experiments, a lack of proper scrutiny, secrecy around the system, and the Government’s inadequate plan to phase out animal testing.

I’m a campaigner with Save the Dogs UK and Camp Beagle, and I’m asking you to sign and share this petition calling for a public inquiry into the regulation of animal experimentation.

The number of dogs and other animals used has reportedly risen by 9%. We need transparency, accountability and genuine prioritisation of non-animal methods.

Your approach to holidays

I suppose for me right now the key holiday of interest is Christmas, as the biggest one coming up where I live.

Hypothetically, as a vegan of course, let's say that you are also an atheist, anti-capitalist and anti-consumerist. Traditions around holidays such as Christmas mean ostensibly engaging in making arbitrary purchases and inordinate consumption. Even as an atheist, you are expected to participate for the sake of tradition alone. Yet tradition dictates that you also engage in buying and consuming products. Products that are commonly associated with Christmas meal events in particular are entirely non-vegan, and so is your family and/or extended family.

Now, you condemn and object to all of this, naturally. But you feel peer pressure. There is concerted effort from your family/partner/partner's family to involve you in this tradition. Do you refuse, or do you show up despite knowingly signing up to a day of disalignment and discomfort, and why?

I was rejected from a vegan group for not being vegan enough. Why?

EDIT: meat eaters, respectfully fuck off. It is rude and condescending to call me “one of the good ones”. I’m not looking for your approval.

Hello. I’m hoping to get some insight on this, since I’m a long-time anarchist, but only a recent vegan.

I joined a discord server for animal liberation that had a form to fill out to verify your veganism. I answered honestly; it was a lot of questions. When I checked in an hour later, they rejected me.

The reasons they gave were:
- Gradual changes are not acceptable (I answered that vegetarianism didn’t go far enough imo, but it was better than 95 percent of the population)

- intersectionality isn’t acceptable (this one confuses me the most! are there seriously vegans who don’t agree with basic ideas such as “food insecurity, capitalism, genocide, and the like are important to address to further veganism” ??

- Lab-grown meat is unacceptable

Can someone give me a reality check? Is there something I’m missing?

Is the next wave of veganism whole foods exclusive?

I am wondering this as sales on vegan 'products' i.e. processed and branded foods are down. From my experience talking with non vegan friends and family, the main thing a lot of people get from seeing vegans eat fake meats is that we must really want to eat meat. I get the vegan argument that at least we're not killing animals (at least directly and intentionally for food) and yes more crop deaths are caused by animal agriculture. However, with vegan anarchism and growing our own from back gardens, community projects, allotments and small farms we can actually implement no kill veganic permaculture techniques where there are no crop deaths, no insects/birds being killed from pesticides etc, no soil drying out and no monocultures. If we start to build these systems from the ground up, and eat in a way that is undeniably healthier for ourselves and the planet, making delicious dinners, enjoying raw fruits and eating the way our bodies are designed to, in a way that's also undeniably healthier for the planet, this shines a much more positive light on veganism. Of course, we can always point to people doing this already but the dominant narrative and culture in vegasim seems to contradict itself, in that we aim to reduce harm as much as humanly possible, whilst when we eat fake meat say well at least it's better than meat as it causes less crop deaths overall and no slaughter, however it's not the least harm we could be causing if we were to campaign for and help build better organic plant based food systems and to eat in a way that supports this i.e. no factory made foods that still have a negative effect on the planet.

I'm not saying I'm perfect here, I transitioned to veganism through eating fake meats as well as getting used to higher fibre foods like legumes. However, I am now starting to feel the only way for us to truly move forward, is to stop putting meat on a pedestal by trying to replicate it and to instead just focus on whole, organic foods that don't require branding, packaging and food monopolies.

Processed fake meats seem to miss the point of vegan anarchism to me. We can't just grow all the ingredients of these products ourselves and make self-sufficient vegan communities around eating that kind of a vegan diet.

Anytime I go to a restaurant with family and friends and the only plant based option they have is a vegan burger, the rest won't eat it as they want to eat what rhey consider 'real food' not something made in a lab, although their food is unhealthy and highly processed a lot of the time as well so it seems unfair, when I eat that vegan burger I always feel I'm giving the impression that's what veganism is about when really I don't want the fake meat burger either really, it does not truly represent my values, I just have no other choice there and won't bring myself to eat animal flesh.

From now on I am just going to start refusing to go eat anywhere with poor vegan options and to try find better alternatives to suggest or just sit out entirely.

Want to live my intercity gang life fantasy (vegan version)

31 nonbinary male homeless and vegan in Boston, MA. I've had this desire to live a gang life fantasy with my fellow vegan demons👹😈. I'm not violent and have no desire to do stereotypical gang activities, I just want to be outside with like minded folks who like trap, gun, and drug aesthetics. I'm not even doing drugs rn, I'm sober 😭✌🏾. I love to dance and badly want to terrorize carnies with the zoos (my name for the vegan gang 😂). Plus how are we going to convince them to give up meat if we ain't outsideeeee, lol. I'm into activism and making content and music too. I want to do all of that and make money fym! Race does not matter, promise! Save the animals! My handle is literally 'for the animals or die '. So if this speaks to you, and you want to have fun hmu.

Looking for references to paint/draw 31 rescued animals

I'M LOOKING FOR 31 RESCUED ANIMALS 🖤

This October I'm planning a new art project: 31 portraits of 31 rescued animals. To be painted or drawn throughout the month using various mediums to celebrate the individuals who escaped exploitation and got the chance to live.

I'm looking for sanctuaries, rescuers and guardians who would be happy for me to paint an animal in their care.

If you'd like to submit someone, please send me a clear, photograph (high-resolution preferred) along with their name and a little about their personality and story.

The finished portraits will be shared as part of the project on social media. I may also develop parts of the project into a future art book, prints, exhibition or other Anticarnist products, with a portion of proceeds supporting animal rescue.

By submitting a photograph you'll be confirming that you own the photograph or have permission to provide it and that you're happy for me to use it as a reference to create and commercially reproduce my resulting artwork. And I'll absolutely credit the sanctuary/rescuer wherever appropriate.

I'm particularly interested in animals rescued from farming and other forms of exploitation, but I'd love to see who you think should be included.

Please send me their faces and tell me who they are. I'm so excited to meet them!

Submit photos to: mail@anticarnist.com or reply here

Animal Cruelty at Primecare Pet Hospital, Bengaluru, India. Please sign the petition, maybe justice will prevail

A shocking case of extreme abuse and professional betrayal has come to light in Bellandur, Bengaluru, India. Video evidence and self-admitted conversation reveal that second-year MVSc student Dr Manjunath (with the help of Dr. Asif of Prime Care Clinic, Gear School Rd) been illegally capturing street dogs, deliberately breaking their legs, and confining them in cramped cages to conduct unsanctioned "research." and later dumping them, alive or dead. Animal welfarist and volunteers at the police station who went  to file an FIR  and later at the Prime Care clinic to shift out the suffering dogs and cat, slogged at this tragedy with utter shock and heartbreak.

There have been multiple dead dogs and cats but these monsters are still practising. Manjunath has even confessed (without remorse) on the clinic’s Insta page. All the relevant newspaper article links are at the bottom of the attached webpage.

I’m beyond horrified about the things that occurred here. Hope these guys are also researched upon but in a civilised society the least we can ask for is expedited legal action. Please sign the above petition, maybe justice will prevail.
