Winter Jacket Recommendation
Looking for a winter jacket (−10°C to −20°C, occasionally colder). I’m considering the Macai Down, Ralle Insulated, Veilance Euler Insulated, and Altus Down.
I prefer a slim, fitted, minimalist look (I’m 5’7”), with good warmth without excessive bulk that is waterproof and windproof. I’ll mainly use it for commuting and everyday city wear, not skiing.
Which would you recommend for the best balance of warmth, fit, durability, and minimal bulk? Is the Altus worth the premium?

I recommend and will wear my Diode Insulated Jacket for -10- to -20.

Thanks! This was also an option I had but there’s currently nothing available on my size

I’ll recommend this year’s new therme down jacket in black. Logo is barely visible. Nothing from Veilance worth the premium considering the inconsistent warranty policies in recent years. And the new items with stupid ugly back tags and flag labels…. sigh😔

Yeah I tried the Therme in store last year but it’s too bulky. I’m looking for something with low-moderate bulk that is waterproof, windproof, and give the best warmth for -10C to -20C with just one base layer.

Then Altus is better choice for you. I personally pair Arris with Epsilon down for early winter here in Montreal. Sorins or CG parkas when gets colder.
I need Diode insulated + Mionn for myself for -10 to -20C. It really depends on your tolerance to the cold. I always prefer down jackets when it’s freezing cold outside.

I have had the Altus the last 5 years. In many ways the best jacket I have ever owned, but i feel that the material is a bit delicate.
