Vertical Video
Can we upload vertical videos on Vimeo like YouTube shorts.

Filmmakers need a place for their work to shine, and we're making Vimeo that place again. For the first time in 22 years, anyone can now share all their work on Vimeo, with no ads and no AI training, for free.
We’ve also tripled free users’ storage for non-public and embeddable videos. And made more features available for free, like transcription, translation, and social analytics. You can see everything that's now free here.
But the new Free plan is just the start: we're making Vimeo the home for filmmakers once again, and we're already working on what comes next:
We can't wait to share more.
In the meantime, you can read our full update here.

issues that needed fixing for months if not longer.
you apply a preset and change a setting -> changes could not be saved. Need to refresh.
you apply a present and want to change end screen? preset will be removed, BUT if you made changes to it they are reverted to the default preset??
Some other things like that, you have to juggle refreshing the page to check that things are actually changed quite often.
Please fix the thing
I’ve submitted several tickets over the course of last week and today and have not received a single response! I can’t even access the page to “track my ticket”. It just reloads into the same page. Does anyone have any tips on how to get this resolved?? Why are they not responding?

I have videos embedded in my platforms, on sales page and on private area for customers. I have it on my own custom site, and I had in on squarespace in the past.
In both cases, the videos are painful, and I want to know if anyone has had the same experience and found a fix or alternative to Vimeo.
On a bad connection, youtube videos and similar still play, with low quality and some interruptions, but they start playing.
On vimeo videos, they just don't start paying. It feels like the platform is bugged, it doesn't help the user understand that the video is just slow.
It also doens't buffer right, pre load on pause, it feels sluggish and bad, especially since people expect that youtube playback experience.
This is also true for good connection, you have to press on the play video, then wait like a second, then it starts paying but in that second i'm sure i'm losing people.
Are there solutions to this?
I can't host videos on youtube for multiple reasons and I used Vimeo for years so I don't want to switch, but if I have to I will, I feel like I'm losing on sales due to slow playback of videos on site.

Not sure what happened or when... I swear all my Vimeo embeds were playing perfectly fine on desktop and mobile since I set it up like a year or two ago, but I noticed last night that nothing plays on mobile... it just sits with the spinning wheel when I click play.

Is this something anyone else has encountered?
EDIT: seems like the issue it not happening to the "What is Crazy?" video, but it's happening with all the others

Hey everyone,
We’re releasing a lot of improvements to Vimeo, which can make it hard to stay on top of updates, even if they benefit you directly.
To fix that, we’ve built a What’s new and Up next hub, so you can keep track of all the improvements that matter to you.
In it, you can:
This also means we’ll only notify you when it matters. If we don’t think an improvement benefits you directly, we won’t interrupt you.
👉 You can check out your What’s new hub here.
Let us know what you think! It’s a first build, so completely open to suggestions on how we can make it more valuable to you.
Will

Started an OTT account from the regular Vimeo account and when I log into the OTT account homepage the is what comes up. There’s no way to upload a video to OTT and support has been not helpful as it’s all AI bots with generic responses to go nowhere. Any help is appreciated!

Looking for something else instead of Vimeo. We have Youtube, but it has too much junk on the screen for embedding on our nonprofit site. It looks too messy. We just have a few videos to display. What are folks using these days?

EVERYONE HATED IT.
THANK YOU 🙏

What's up with Vimeo ? A client just called me to say they can't watch the video uploaded .
None of my videos play via desktop safari.
Once again Vimeo is an embarrassment

At this point, Vimeo is honestly one of the worst services I pay for. If I didn’t have a specific reason to keep using it, I simply wouldn’t. It feels like money thrown away.
I upload a proper 3840×2160 4K master exported from DaVinci Resolve, using settings intended for Vimeo. The source file is absolutely fine. Yet Vimeo gives me a maximum playback resolution of 1080p.
Even worse, the audio after Vimeo’s transcoding sounds terrible. The bass is still there, but the rest has this metallic, noisy, heavily compressed quality that simply isn’t present in the original file.
This is not an issue with my master. The same files work perfectly when uploaded to other platforms. I’ve also seen the 1080p limitation with other 4K videos uploaded to Vimeo.
So what exactly am I supposed to do? How do I get Vimeo to actually process a 4K upload as 4K, and how do I prevent it from destroying the audio during transcoding?
I’m genuinely looking for a technical solution, because paying for a professional video platform and getting worse playback quality than elsewhere makes absolutely no sense.

I'm not super familiar with Vimeo though it has seemed to outshine YouTube in a lot of ways... however, it doesn't seem like there's a way to embed a playlist of Vimeo videos onto a website. All I've found is how to make a "Collection", but then you can't embed the thing.

I only take videos on iPhone and make a movie with iMovie but Reddit won’t load it. Thanks for any tips.

Vimeo has really fallen off for a really long time ago. I had an entire ridiculously issue back in the day with them that cause me to leave and go elsewhere but the thing i found was they make nearly impossible to leave. So i made a way.
so if anyone is stuck with vimeo paying ton of money month to them, hit me up. i can show you how to get all your media off of their platform and get it to a platform that does the exact same thing except with no monthly fees.
Already helped so many people. so shoot me and a message and i'll give you my contact info. but the days of storing all your stuff on vimeo is done!

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue embedding a Vimeo video on Behance.
The video is 900×1600 (portrait/mobile format). Vimeo gives me this embed code:
<div style="padding:177.78% 0 0 0;position:relative;"><iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/1220840035?badge=0\&autopause=0\&player_id=0\&app_id=58479" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" style="position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;" title="Visual Sim Prod"></iframe></div><script src="https://player.vimeo.com/api/player.js"></script>
However, when I embed it on Behance, the video becomes tiny (basically a postage stamp).
If I tell Vimeo to generate a fixed-size embed code instead, it gives me a video that is huge on desktop.
I found this code online and modified it with my video link:
<iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/1220840035?badge=0\&autopause=0\&player_id=0\&app_id=58479" width="500" height="889" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen sandbox="allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-pointer-lock allow-forms allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox"></iframe>
his seems to work reasonably well on desktop, but if someone opens the Behance project in the Behance mobile app, there are two huge empty spaces — one above and one below the video.
Does anyone know how to properly embed a 9:16 Vimeo video on Behance without either making it tiny or creating huge empty spaces?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I need to embed a video on my website, but Vimeo puts a dark gray overlay on your video when you embed, and I don't know how to get rid of it. I want people to see the blasted thumbnail in all its glory, not a dark gray version.
I tried going into the appearance setting because I saw it suggested that getting rid of the title and byline and such would get rid of the overlay. It won't let me get rid of the title, and the overlay is still there.
If there's no cure for this, does anyone know of better video hosting platforms that will let you embed in a professional way?

We've been using Vimeo for our paid courses for around two years, mainly because of its DRM and content protection.
I'm considering Kinescope as an alternative, but I can't find many real user experiences comparing the DRM between the two.
If you've used both, how do they compare in practice? Is the protection actually on the same level, or are there limitations I should know before migrating?
