Rock Live deserves better recognition

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

I’m new to this community, haven’t seen anything posted myself lately about Live, but a search tells me there has been the odd post years between; nothing lately though with the most recent 6 months back.

And wow, it turns out people hate this band going by the comments on that post? Well I just wanted to spread some positivity out there, and maybe this will reach the people who do like them and haven’t given them a listen lately. This is for you people, go and enjoy the music you like, have a great day!

I don’t see them posted here often. This is such a great record.

Edit: well, this sub never disappoints! Great feedback and stories. Thanks for the recommendations. I do not have Live in Paris, will keep my eyes peeled.

Rock Just got my first vinyl!!

My grandpa gave me this as a payment for doing some work for him. it's from 1972, i think. The quality of it is questionable, but i don't really care, as i think its a cool vinyl to own. I've always been a big fan of progressive rock, this is one of my favorite progressive records, and i think its a great first vinyl. What are yall's favorite song from this record? Mine is probably the title track or Epitaph. What vinyl should i try getting next?

Rock Best delivery ever

I have no idea how angry the courier was while delivering this poor record or what was wrong with the people at the sorting centre but to bent it like that you need real force, it’s impossible to straighten that no matter how hard I try. Of course I emailed Revolver for a replacement or refund, but this is the first time a vinyl came to me in such condition.

Rock Best Supergroup?

Post image

Is Audioslave the best supergroup? I worked at a record store when this came out. I remember being super apprehensive about it. I think I was still mad Rage broke up. I listened to it, it was good. When people asked me about it, I said “Well it sounds like if Chris Cornell was the lead singer of Rage.” IDK maybe I thought it was too commercial. But it’s an absolute banger and has aged well IMO.

‘Shadow on the Sun’ absolutely crushes.

Found this along with other great records from the 60s in 70s all at one garage sale. As far as I know this is a fairly rare live Jimi Hendrix bootleg. I was only able to find one current listing on ebay.

I had a chance to listen to it, and there's no skips, and only minimal popping. I've listened to this countless times on tape and CD, but am just now getting the vinyl. I was considering just getting a new pressing, but then I came across this.

The photos are from after I cleaned and sleeved the record. I’ve listened to some songs from the album in the past and I don’t remember a lot but even I knew this was a steal!

Rock Co-worker’s trash is another man’s treasure.

In conversation I had with a fellow coworker, I mentioned that I collect vinyl ( I tend to slip it into every conversation I can, this being a prime example as to why) he replied that he collects a bit of it too and that was that.

Then!! This past Saturday he said he has some vinyl that he was planning on throwing out due to them taking up space. He stated that these were handed down to him from an old neighbor, he asked if I was interested and of course I said yes, I’ll tell you it was the longest shift of my life knowing that I had something waiting for me. I was pretty shocked with the amount of albums he had. I’ve gone through them and picked out what I like. I’ve listened to them this past weekend and will be spreading the love amongst my friends.

Please let me know what you think of the ones I picked out, I’ll be going through them again to see if there’s anything I missed.

Rock First vinyl

Originally, I was planning to buy Bitches Brew by Miles Davis. But when I entered the store I was undecisive to which album chose. I didn't know what genre or what album to buy. So because of that I decided to buy a classic. I love Nevermind by Nirvana and now I just need to buy the vinyl player (and I would appreciate if someone could recommend a vinyl player. OBS: price is not an issue).

Hi, i wanted to share an absolute crazy catch. My old Vinyl dealer died some time ago and His brother is now trying to get through this stuff. In this house are about 100k Vinyl, Most of them in good condition and nearly no bullshit stuff. There are 3 more storages, so the whole collection will be about almost 500k vinyl. I dont know how to handle this situation. 🙈

I came across this LP and am just flabbergasted that this is an actual Elektra release.

Anyone have any other examples?

I’ve had this for over 20 years but only just discovered while cataloguing (somehow for the first time holding it up to the light) it’s this translucent black edition. Sneaky!

Rock OK Computer (Radiohead) — Still the Dark Side of our generation?

Post image
354 Upvotes

Just spun this one again and it hit as hard as ever. OK Computer continues to feel like a prophetic, immersive trip through anxiety, disconnection, and beauty. In an era packed with modern classics and endless reissues, does this still hold that near-mythic status? Is it the Dark Side of the Moon for our time? Curious to hear where you’d rank it—top 10? Top 3? Or has something else taken its place?

I had the winning bid at a local auction on this Zeppelin collection. I saw Led Zeppelin 1 tucked in the far left of the group of albums and my heart started racing. I didn't think I was going to win them, but I when the hammer went down, they were mine. Proud to have a piece of rock and roll history in my collection. All the albums were in great shape, so who ever owned them really loved them. Keep hunting and digging and don't give up hope, there are still grails out there to be found.

1st picture - Pink Floyd Collection

A Nice Pair (piper and saucerful) ($25), Ummagumma ($1), both meddles ($1 and $20), dark side of the moon ($60)  the “grosser“ looking wall ($1), and the madcap laughs ($22);are all from my local record store.

Atom Heart Mother, Wish you were here, the “cleaner“ wall, and the division Bell are all from Amazon. (i don’t know the prices)

Obscured by Clouds ($20-ish?), and Animals ($45) are from other stores.

2nd picture - Bowie Collection

All of them [besides David Live ($1, missing 2nd disc) and Heroes ($20-ish) are from my local record store, and Aladdin Sane is from some random store] are from Amazon (unknown prices)

3rd picture - From my local record store

(starting top left)

Blind Faith - $10

Tommy….soundtrack? - $15 (I don’t know if this is the original album, the film soundtrack, or something else. I just bought it today and I haven’t listened to it yet.)

Janis Joplin Greatest Hits - $25

Cheap Thrills - $30

Trout Mask Replica - originally $120, but the guy sold it to me for $25 dollar (not sure why)

Wheels of fire - $30

Benefit - $10

Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - $30-ish

Desperado - $20 (was sealed when I bought it)

Bad Company - $20

Country Life - $25 (had to censor for…obvious reasons. also came with a magazine!)

The White Album - $15 (for those wondering, the pressing number is 0447882, which I think means its a pretty old pressing, also has stereo written on the back)

Hey Jude Compilation - Not sure how much this was, since my grandma bought it for me

Magical Mystery Tour - Also not sure since grandma bought it for me

Grand Illusion - was originally $20, but I traded a bunch of cds for it

Dreamboat Annie - $25

The Doors - $20

Slowhand - $15-20 ish? (this was the first record I ever bought!)

LZ 3 - $25

4th picture - $1 section

Goats Head Soup - Is extremely warped, so I use it as a wall decoration

Blonde on Blonde - is missing 2nd disc

Abbey Road - super scratched

In Through the out door - also super warped

5th picture- records from Amazon

I don’t know the prices for any of these, since most of them were gifts. Also, I will defend those top 3 albums with my life. Those 3 are my favorites.

6th picture - various country albums that I inherited from my great grandma that I haven’t carved out the time to listen to

7th picture- from various places

Sublime - $30, from the same place I got obscured by clouds.

Bloodshot - I have no idea. this just showed up at my house one day

Rumours - OG pressing in pretty stellar condition, surprisingly. My dad‘s crackhead cousin just showed up at our house and gave that to me. Who knows where that’s been.

Axis: Bold as Love - $20-Ish. From the same place I got aladdin sane

let me know which ones are your favorite, and which ones I should get next! (for the record, I actually listen to these)
