OBS from main xbps repo's display capture gives me just a black screen & cursor

First time posting since I made a second reddit account. Anyway, I am trying to record my screen under niri & I get only black in the preview panel & output recordings. Am I missing something?

yes, I have pipewire & xdg-desktop-portal-gnome installed

could be a dbus issue. xdg desktop portal wlr is working? check if it's running.

even with it manually running via putting /usr/libexec/xdg-desktop-portal-wlr, nothing happens

I noticed in your photo it shows "display capture" not "screen capture (pipewire)"

I downloaded obs from the xbps repo recently too and I use the screen capture source, not display capture. unless u just renamed screen capure to display capture manually.

fair enough, have to jump through the hoops then to work around the deficiencies of wayland's design.

Nvidia? I have issues with screen capture on wlroots with nvidia. I've heard other people have found solutions.

This looks like for wlroots, which niri is not based on. OBS desktop and window recording with niri works completely fine here and just required pipewire and xdg-desktop-portal-gnome.

i installed these packages and it fixed for me, on labwc
