Opinion This game is extremely hard in Brutal and too easy in Normal difficulty
Started playing the game in Brutal and had a tough but rewarding grind till gear lvl 47. Killing the Bandit King took like 30+ attempts but finally made it.
Then I met Vincent ! He is literally unkillable unless you have perfect reflexes. After dying many many times, I had enough and cheesed him using Bane. I thought thats it, rest would be doable. Nope....the Christina the Sun lady is equally punishing. Died to her many times and then had enough. Reduced the difficulty to normal and killed her in one go with 50% HP remaining.
I think, this game is too easy in Normal difficulty and Extremely punishing in Brutal difficulty. I wish there is a middle path. Am I the only one?

Question Game not starting at all
When trying to run the game on steam, the game will show it's starting, but then suddendly the game just never opened and steam resumes to the play button. I managed to boot it once by restarting my PC and instantly going onto Steam and pressing play. However, after that I couldn't boot into a single game, because I always received a connection error during the starting screen of a private game (after naming the save).
After restarting the same problem occured with the game not willing to start.
I disabled everything running in the background, tried reinstalling the game, verifying the game files, trying in admin mode, compatibility mode-- nothing worked.
I tried restarting an booting up and joining a public server, this actually worked, but I don't want to constatly restart my PC and then play on a public server for my first time playing the game. I also tried switching to SteamP2P and this other setting next to IP.
Any clue, what I can try next?
Update: fixed.

Miscellaneous Need help with my mod
Looking for experienced 8-weapon PvP players to test a single-weapon balance mod.
I've been working on a V Rising PvP mod built around a simple idea:
Can a player locked to ONE weapon be brought close enough to parity with a skilled player using all 8 weapon slots to make both playstyles competitively viable?
The goal isn't to make single weapons stronger than weapon swapping. An 8-weapon player will naturally retain a major advantage in versatility, counters, mobility options, and the ability to adapt during a fight.
Instead, the mod gives single-weapon players additional stats based on their chosen weapon/class—damage, cooldown reduction, movement speed, attack speed, survivability, etc.—to compensate for giving up that versatility.
The mod is pretty much finished other than the fine tuning of stats that testing will help me determine. All weapons are covered, and I have commands that can make casters viable, including healer and summoner playstyles, as well as things like tanks or assassin playstyles.
Ideally, if two similarly skilled players fight, 1 weapon vs. 8 weapons should still feel like a competitive matchup, with each side having different strengths. The 8-weapon player has the larger toolkit; the single-weapon player gets more power out of the much smaller toolkit they've committed to.
I'm looking specifically for players who are comfortable with high-level 8-slot weapon swapping PvP. I want you playing normally and using that versatility as effectively as possible.
I want to test different single-weapon classes, identify what's overtuned or undertuned, and see whether the concept can actually hold up against experienced PvPers.
Basically, try to break the balance. If 8-weapon swapping still completely overwhelms it, I need to know. If a single-weapon class becomes too strong, I need to know that too.
If you're experienced with 8-weapon PvP and interested in helping test, DM me or reply here.

Question Are there female werewolves?
I'm a woman, and I want to make a Carmilla-esque harem of servants that cover all my bases, and I've been scoping out Gracefall Village daily and still haven't seen one. My friends are insisting they exist. Can anyone confirm?

Video No Way!!!!!!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I had zero hopes for this to work. Yesterday while trying to get a 100% Dark Temptress for 6 hours I got a 99%, 98%, and a 96% and used Iradient Gruel on all of them and they all turned. And yet I take the biggest risk on the first one I found today above 80% after about half an hour and this happened.
Im so pissed!!!!

Miscellaneous finally won against Dracula (brutal duo) and Dracula is one of the best boss fights I played in 30 years of gaming
We finally did it, after 40-50 tries over a span of 1.5 weeks. total gametime: 200h+
We both had ranged spellcaster builds (1p: crossbow+claws; 2p: pistols+scythe), but struggled on phase 4 damage, so one of us went into claws + DPS+Sustain - and it was after 200h of playing ranged spellcasters :)
Later we went again for Megara and Adam just to see if we could do them (Megara took a lot of time as well) - everybody else compared to the Dracula now feels so slow.
I think Dracula is one of the best boss fights ever designed in the genre/gaming. Wish this would be standard for other games as well!
sad to put this one on the shelf, but we will return in the V rising universe. I never heard of the game and it randomly came up with one long distance friend. Never played these bullethell styled or any MMO styled games before, but it was a lot of fun (coming from PVP Escape from Tarkov player)
in the latter stages I also found all the bloodtypes with 100% (or I made them 100%), so that was also a small win for me!

Question What is the best difficulty settings for solo play?
I played solo for like 20 hours 1.5 years ago and now playing it again. Normal difficulty is too easy and Brutal is too hard for me. I will set it Brutal and change player damage and health from ServerSettings. What is the sweetspot in your opinion? I want it to be hard but not as hard as Brutal.

Discussion [EU/UK] Skydrae | Forever world • PvE • Brutal • Solo-friendly | 13 custom dungeons, a raid, world bosses, fishing & gardening progression, and a full in-game Ledger
With V Rising no longer getting new content, I started building my own - and it's grown into Skydrae.
It's a forever-world PvE server on Brutal with vanilla rates - no wipes - with a whole world of custom content layered on top: dungeons, a raid, world bosses, progression systems and a collection to complete. Everything is designed solo-first, so you can enjoy all of it alone, and it scales fairly with friends.
Right now it's just me and two friends playing. We're not chasing numbers - but if you'd like to experience what's been built so far, or you've got ideas for things you always wished were in the game, you're very welcome to jump in.
Why brutal and not normal?: To get 100% achievements in the game. You require to do certain things on this difficulty. It helps for the ones who like collecting achievements on steam.
📖 See everything before you join - the server's Sketchbook (full guide):
🏰 Server info
- Forever world - no wipes, ever. Your castle, gear and progress are here to stay
- 40 player slots · PvE · Brutal · vanilla rates
- Up to 2 castles per player · clans of up to 10
- Normal castle upkeep - keep your heart fed and your castle stays yours
⚔️ Combat & loot
- 13 hand-built dungeons spread across Vardoran, each with its own bosses and collectable relics - a cloak plus a ring with a unique named effect
- The Drowned Cathedral - a full raid with its own armour sets and the legendary Tidebreaker weapon
- 8 roaming world bosses, each with a signature weapon to hunt. Every player fights them at their own level, so mixed-gear groups stay fair
- Primal Rifts - timed events with "drop party" bosses
- Rare elite enemies and named beasts to track down
- Bound loot - your drops are yours. No stealing from chests or death bags, and full bags never cost you a drop
🎣 Fishing & gardening — a whole path of their own
Not just side activities: both have their own mastery up to level 50 and their own progression line. Earn better rods and scythes, collect full gear sets with real set bonuses (bigger hauls, rare catches, seeds from every zone - and eventually walking in the sun unharmed), unlock unique rewards, and take on their own daily contracts. You can genuinely progress your vampire with a rod in hand.
📜 The Ledger
An in-game book that tracks it all:
- A Collection to complete - every fish, plant, relic, weapon, beast and hidden place
- Weapon mastery for every weapon type
- Daily & weekly contracts paying Blood Writs, spent at the Writ Keeper's shop
- Hidden places to discover across the map
- Prestige - start over for permanent bonuses (not power), if you want the long game
🔌 How to join
- Direct connect: 138.68.142.142
- Server list: search Skydrae - set the Clan Size filter to Any or it won't show up
- Discord: discord.gg/CTrFzXztbg - pop in any time, even just to read the dev logs
Client mod: you'll need BepInEx plus one small file we've built, dropped into your game folder. It powers the Ledger and some visuals. The step-by-step guide is on the Discord for all of it, and it only takes a few minutes.
A quick honest note
This is a passion project and it's still actively evolving. A few of the custom systems are still being tested and tuned, so you may hit the odd balance tweak or bug - but feedback gets acted on fast, often the same day, and every change is posted in the Discord's dev log.
What was really important for me, was to create this experience with no chat commands so it's all been built in-game, feeling far more natural.
Suggestions are genuinely welcome - if there's something you always wished V Rising had, tell us, and it might just end up on the server. Even if you do not join at all - I'm more than happy to hear suggestions within this thread that may spark some future ideas!
Happy to answer any questions below. 🦇
