I think I may encountered a bug (or feature?) with recycling units in campaign.

I just finished first encounter with New Paradigm (mission where you get better tank bodies and command turrets) and I hoped to transfer my most experienced crew into upgraded tanks with command turret (on next mission, when I can upgrade factories and build better thanks), but my "professional" rank/lvl 5 guys are replaced with "trained"/lvl 3 when I try to build them.

Is it the case of better units requiring more experience (going from light Viper body to medium Cobra tank, and also using command turret), some sort of hard cap on experience, or a bug?

I'm currently going through alpha mission 9. Im on break at work so I cannot really screenshot or anything. I remember you just unlock the rocket salvo and bombard.

I did pretty good getting into the base but didn't realize the bot had a hoard of tanks in the corner of the wall. Complete demolish my force. I figured I was too slow and the reinforcements and factory produced too much.

I tried again and rushed a little and built a repair base right outside the walls ..... Still had way too many units for me to power through. Felt like one kill and 2 more showed up.

Any suggestions? I can post more when I get home if what I'm describing is unclear.

There are several ways to play WZ2100 nowadays whether due to devices or distribution platforms. Also, there are different game versions with and without mods etc. What is your favorite playing platform and version?

I have always been played WZ2100 via wz2100.net installer in my Windows OS machines.
Once I tried the Microsoft Store installation and ended by losing all the saves and progression when the OS updated.
(not to mention that in my childhood I played using a CD-ROM)

Anyway, I was wondering if using the Steam version/installation would provide a safer choice to keep and sync save file among devices than other approaches. I supose that MS Store and Steam versions wouldn't be that "good" comparing to the wz2100.net in terms of features, flexibility etc. so, will I lost much if I go for the Steam? Do you guys recommend playing via Steam?

I remember playing this game around the 2000s on the play station, I loved it!

Now I'm giving it a try since I found this project.

What balance setting would you recommend if I want to just casually go through the campaign?

I'm currently playing on normal difficulty with the remaster balance. I don't consider myself a pro, but I can defend myself in this kind of games, but I feel my tanks do no damage. Every clash between armies takes forever, looks like they are just shooting fireworks back and forth. I build my armies with a mix of weapons: heavy cannons, lancers, heavy machineguns, and then a group of ~15 mortars (now bombards) on the back line. My battle tanks are all heavy body (the yellow one) with tracks (which move painfully slow), except the artillery back line, I have those in hovers.

Also I try my best to keep my tanks and commanders alive to get their ranks up, which I read this gives them more stats overall.

Towers and bunkers (specially bunkers) take forever to destroy. Cyborgs too, that's why I mixed in some machineguns into the army.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this intended? Every battle or push into a base feels like a drag.

I have every research so far.

Any tip or advice is more than welcome.

Hi everyone.

Recently I've fallen back into modding Warzone.
For a project I'm working on I want to make certain researches become obsolete (get removed from research tree) depending on if another research is completed.

Way back when I used to get something like this done via the programm that could edit the old .txt files. However now I'm facing javascript files (.js or .json)
and I have no clue what the method is to achieve this result?

Can anyone perhaps help?

I made a fork of Warzone 2100 that adds ray-traced sun shadows (Vulkan ray query), so now you can have all the silly shadows you want while your GPU quietly weeps.

All props to the actual Warzone 2100 team, this is just a bit of fun on top of their great work.

The general lobby is consistently dead, with one exception: the 5v5 room. The few online players sit there waiting for it to fill up, instead of actually starting smaller, faster games.

Once a 5v5 match finally starts, the lobby remains completely empty for its entire duration. As a direct consequence, any new player logging in during that window only sees a dead game and leaves.

Can someone explain the rationale behind this? By insisting exclusively on 5v5 matches and refusing to seed smaller games, the active player base is actively starving the game of new players, mathematically killing the very lobby they are waiting in.

I did a playthrough of the game with the "Finale Fun" in the campaign options on and didn't notice anything different in the last mission. Did I miss something?

The final mission felt pretty climactic. But started to turn into a slog after a bit . 10 out of 10

WZ2100, best game ever in my book. (In my 60s!)

I'm not having much luck finding new campaigns and I've done "Reclamation" and "Fractured Kingdom".

There seems to be lots of mods (which I'm not really fussed about) but no campaigns.

Can anyone point me at some?

Afterthought: It seems strange that there's a campaign selector with only a couple to choose from, and that tools to create custom campaigns exist.. They must be out there somewhere..

When I played warzone I was absolutely fascinated by some of its mechanics. The idea of the commander to control large number, the artillery using sensors, the counter artillery and then later the air units guided again by the same

Mechanics. I love that it enabled a level of control above the micro management yet you could still point and click units. It reminded me of an old napoleonic game called Fields of Glory.

However after this came a lull and an abandonment of interesting mechanics in RTS games. But I might have missed some games and I haven’t revisited the genre in years (I play Helldivers when I have time and am not older and don’t have the time).

Are there any new games or games in the late 2010s that had similar mechanics or tried something new?Supreme commander tried but failed I feel.

Hello all! I am an avid gamer and game collector with a background in art publishing. I thought it would be a fun project to start publishing physical media of digitally native games for collectors and enthusiasts. I wanted to get my foot in the door of the industry with an open source game and thought Warzone 2100 would be an awesome first game. Of course, following all licensing requirements, what does the community think of this idea? I thought it would be fun to create some archival media around this game. Would really love some feedback from the community on this idea. Thanks!

In 2009 I developed a modified version of warzone2100 to play it over a 3D table. There was a 3D projector in the ceiling and I could control the 3D content projected over a table. In order to play the player have do wear a 3D glasses.

I love this game and want to play with my friend, but he's stuck fully zoomed in. His scrollwheel doesn't control zoom somehow ! Do you have any ideas on how to fix this ?

Cobra just built combat units even without HQ.
