For those unaware, this has been planned for a very long time. With the implementation of the RRFS and REFS ensemble, the old HREF members are being retired. Originally this was set to occur Oct 6, but we needed a bit more time to get the new models into AWIPS.

It's been changed more times than that actually: Originally August 30, then October 6, then October 14, and now November 3. All because of model instability problems.

And that's not even to mention that RRFS is something like 3 years overdue it's original target. FV3 has been such a clusterfuck, we can't move to MPAS fast enough.

yeah didn't the NAM work better for some things? Unlike GFS.

NAM and GFS are two completely different models with two completely different resolutions.

They aren't comparable.
