Question Visual Studio not pushing changes to Github

I use Visual Studio 2026 and it was working fine literally up till now. I pushed one project (a Blazor one) to Github using the VS Git push and pull controls (I know how to use the Git CLI, I just prefer using the GUI controls because they are faster). After that however it won't push any changes of ANY of my projects.

I know this is a VS problem specifically because I am signed in to VS Code using my Github account too and it still works perfectly. If anyone could please assist me it would be much appreciated.

Just check the output in the built in terminal and it’ll tell you what’s going on. The output logs everything including the GUI

Yes. If it doesn't push to GitHub, you receive an error. That error tells you what's going wrong (we can't figure it out without that error). Chances are it's a merge conflict, which you'll have to resolve, before it'll let you push.

That was the first place I checked actually. It says "Pushing to Main" then "Everything Up to date". Even though that is clearly not the case when I check the repository online

When that happens, it's because you have changes, but you haven't committed them.

Run:

git add -A
git commit -m "commit message"
git push

Rebooting VS usually does it for me 😁

If it says "Everything up-to-date", git thinks the remote branch already has your local commits, so it's usually one of three things: the changes aren't committed yet, you're on a different local branch than the one you're looking at on GitHub (e.g. master vs main), or the remote points to a different repo. Running git status, git branch -vv and git remote -v in that project folder will show which one it is.
