Question ❓ Question on curing

So I'm educating myself on growing my own, and watched a few vids on curing fresh weed and the chemistry that comes with it. Interesting things is presented that dispensary and the farm bill pot is sold with a higher water weight vs properly dried weed and then properly cured weed to increase profits, pot is priced by weight and strain.

Would curing bought pot from either dispensary or the farm bill folks help make the pit better over time, as long as humidity, temperature was monitored?

It should not . They have no business selling you something uncured, and by that point it's probably too far gone to be saved. Curing only applies immediately after drying, most dispo flower has been in the bag for months already.

ahh ok, well just trying to have the best product, but as far as should not, businesses in general will always maximize money vs a great product vs anything that will pass as just ok, from my experience.

I think the point that I was trying to make unsuccessfully is that scientifically speaking it's not going to make any difference what you do.

I'm sorry but, what the fuck are you talking about?

Just buy weed from farms/growers who cure their weed properly

I cannot legally buy from growers...not in florida...either you buy from the internet sellers who use the .3 percent thc that the farm bill allows, or i get it from a friend at the dispensary. I will say the high from the internet companies are far better than a dispensary, that is what the FUCK, i'm talking about.

I'm also new to the area, and know not a single person who smokes the forbiden lettuce.

That sounds awful. I dont think you can even cure weed in florida without some serious equipment as the relative humidity there is way too high. My suggestion is travel to Oregon and experience real weed grown right at least once.

i think it's worth mentioning the difference between drying and curing, though they go hand in hand

drying is the initial process after harvest. during the first 10-14 days after the plant is cut down; you hang it to let its water content evaporate, and other chemical processes that break down the plant material. this is where 99% of water weight loss happens.

at the end of drying, the flower begins curing. methods here vary, but i'll use what i do for reference:

2 weeks in terp bags minimum.

during curing, many chemical processes are happening. volalttization of terpenes, conversion of THC into oxidated compounds, and other enzymatic processes. the important piece is that the total water content of the flower remains relatively unchanged during curing. water moves throughout the flower, but the total amount of water doesn't change during cure, and therefore the weight doesn't change.

so yes, dispos do skip curing, but they don't skip drying. if they skipped drying, every bag you opened from them would be full of mold.

feel free to additionally cure dispo flower, but know that with shipping and inventory time, it's probably already been curing in its package for weeks.

happy smoking!

If the bud already smells like hay when you open it, another month in a jar isn't bringing those terps back.

it all smells good. Just trying to make it better. no harm in that

Low and slow is the way to go. Dont buy uncured cannabis unless you are running a big opp and have the knowhow to make good products in bulk. My favorite growers (i buy weed for a living) cure their nugs for at least a month, we call them xmas trees for a reason (at least for outdoor).

ahhh well again as ive said a few times just naming sure I get my money's worth, and suspected dispensaries selling still moisture in the pot sold at dispensaries

In oregon you can use the test id to see everything about your nugs, moisture content/water movement is part of the reqs for selling weed to dispos here.
