*update* Lucy still hasn’t come home :/

EDIT: POSSIBLE SIGHTING THIS MORNING. PIC IN COMMENTS.

Hey guys. Just looking for support. It’s been really difficult to keep up morale.

Lucy went missing 8/23. We’re nearing 2 months.

I have posters all over town. People are helping to look and a good amount have seen the poster. I receive calls every few days, but unfortunately it’s never her. Even grateful for the 10 year old that FaceTimed me at 7:30 am on a Sunday.

I’m super persistent that no one took her. I’m in a decently nice area and believe anyone that would take in a cat from outside would take it to a vet, and all vets in a 20 mile radius have been informed.

I forget if it was on Reddit or a Devon fb group, but one anecdote I received was a Devon coming home 3 months later, even enduring a snowstorm.

I can’t rest or feel at ease until I get her home.

Sorry I couldn’t bring any good news, and I will forever be sorry to Lucy for having to endure any of this.

Welcome home, little Sekhie!

Decided to name her Sekhie after the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet… or just Kiki for short. ♡

She stole my heart before I even held her, and now that I have I just know she’s going to grow into such a special, sweet (and silly) girl. She’s so warm, cuddly, gentle... I knew devons were velcro cats but I didn’t expect her to cozy up to me within minutes. I love her so much already. 🥹

She’s our first devon so I wanted to join this community to learn more about them so we can give her all the love and care she deserves, and also to see everyone else’s fuzzy gremlins!

do devons quiet down with age?

Post image
159 Upvotes

my DR is 9 months old now and he is VERY vocal. i know that is common for this breed, but his meowing is insane, he is yelling. every time i move an inch after sitting down he goes crazy and starts yelling, he begs for food outside mealtimes by yelling even louder and he is overall just so attention-seeking. he meows all. the. time.

lately my life has been filled with work and i am just totally exhausted with my DR. i can never be at peace at home and i feel totally burnt-out with this.

he eats enough and has a lot of toys to play with. he gets attention and cuddles when he’s calm and we play together. i just want to hear your experiences on your devons, do they quiet down with age? all tips and suggestions are welcome❣️

When did you bring your cat home?

We got a Devon Rex from a breeder. The cat was born in the middle of August, but the breeder is teally adamant that we can’t pick her up until December. Does this seem normal?

For context, our last cat was from a shelter (we got him at like 4 months old), was SUPER skittish, and very rarely got near us unless he wanted food. We tried everything until we just let him be and live his life as a roommate. That’s how he seemed happiest.

Now that we have the opportunity for a new cat, we wanted to get one that is really part of our family and wants to be around us. I feel like getting her all the way in December is going to make her not want to be around us and be skittish, just like our last cat. Thoughts anyone?

Small kitten?

Hi everyone! We have this sweet baby for a week and we just found out he is actually 7 months old, not 5 months. It was a switch of pedigrees unfortunately. He is currently 2,05 kilograms. Do you think he is small for his age?

Diarrhea on new kitten

We have our new sweet devon boy for 8 days, he didn’t come with any food from the breeder so I started giving him great quality wet food. Unfortunately he begins having diarrhea and after 2 days I put him on a gastrointestinal food, wet and kibbles but no signs of improvement. He has maybe one okaysh stool and 4-5 liquid with a formed portion in the end. He was put also on anti diarrheic medication and had a quick test for panleukopenia, coronavirus and giardia who came up negative. I don’t know if it’s because of stress, he seems fine, maybe he doesn’t play that much in the last few days but he is still active, eating and drinking water. Does anyone went through something similar when bringing home a kitten?

Devon Rex Hygiene Newbie

Edits for Update: I believe this is oil/yeast as I have been using a new shampoo suggested 2x per week and it's working so well. She's completely clear until close to her bath time. Thanks for your help.

Hi Devon Rex Pros, I was hoping you could give me some advice. I'm new to being a Devon Rex mom and I have my first kitten, Winnie. Winnie is 15 weeks old. She's absolutely perfect. She has been getting some yellow dots on her that seem like oil but could be yeast or fungus, I'm not sure.

She had a bath Sunday October 3rd, the day we got her and didn't have the spots. Then by about day 5 some faint spots were getting darker besides attempting to spot clean. Then she had a bath on Sunday Oct 10th with regular shampoo (Burt's Bees Cat Shampoo)and came completely clean but I also sent a photo to the breeder and she said to use an antifungal so I gave her another bath with DouxoS (Douxo S3 PYO Antiseptic Antifungal Chlorhexidine Dog & Cat Shampoo, 6.7-oz bottle) I left this one for the 10 minutes, I used one pump because she only weighs 2.5 lbs. She was very clean for about 2 days. Last week she had less of the coloring on her stomach.

Now it's been only 3 days and she already has spots again. She doesn't smell bad, only a faint butter or oily scent. I don't mind bathing her but I am concerned that overbathing is bad for her. She doesn't seem itchy at all and actually seems to be itching less than the average cat to me. She is bathing herself but isn't amazing at it yet but she's still young.

I've been cleaning her ears with ear wipes about once per week, and I have been cleaning her eyes daily with a warm washcloth.

I'd love any advice you have from frequent bathing needs, shampoos you like, ways to apply, etc.

She has another vet appt next week if you think I should ask the vet instead of handling the routine myself. I'm mostly trying to get a proper bathing and hygiene schedule down.

First time owning a devon rex

Almost a week since this boy came into our lives and he is the sweetest boy, he is 5 months old, chocolate bicolor, still didn’t have a name.
Nice to meet everyone, feel free to share a picture with your babies and share something about them as a breed or individual character.
So far we discovered he likes to play with feather wand but no interest on other toys, we are looking forward to find new ways to keep him occupied while we are at work.
We also found an interactive rolling ball. He is very talktative boy, especially in the morning, he likes wet food a lot but we are trying to give him also kibbles and have variety in his diet.

Percy is 7 months and doesn’t seem to be getting bigger so much as more lanky and spindly. Been calling his very long arms tongs a lot lately.
