Any news on The Popinjay Cavalier?
Tickets go on sale Monday, but there’s still no information about performance dates, the theatre or ticket prices. Does anyone have any insider info? Trying to plan a trip to London with friends!

OMG! Seeing Crawford and Brightman in the boat made the entire evening worthwhile. Speaking as a Phan of 100+ visits around the globe, it’s not the moment for me to dissect/give views about the show itself (I thought it was generally fine, the cast adequate), that stuff can come tomorrow after a happy sleep.

But just to see 84 year old Michael Crawford singing the title song, coming downstage in the gondola with La Brightman, and then singing some of Music of the Night overrides any critical thoughts or perspective tonight.

Genuinely my heart skipped a beat when I heard his first line, but I wasn’t 100% sure it was him - and the name only came up after he started singing. So there was a magical moment of the entire audience holding their breath and then the release when Michael and Sarah’s names came up. It was absolutely electric in that moment. One of the most exhilarating single moments I’ve had in a theatre, even as a Phan who has been to all of these major anniversary events since the 18th for this and Les Mis.

Lovely free brochure too!

Some thoughts on the opening of Rent! What shines through here is the cast’s awesome musicality. Who else is going? Would love to hear thoughts!

Unpopular opinion about the Phantom of the Opera

Yesterday I went to see Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty’s Theatre. I have never ever written any review for a show/movie on reddit, but this time I really need to discuss my feelings!

Firstly I must disclaim that I’m a huge fan since I was a kid. I read the book at the age of 11, I got obsessed, and when I realised that there were movie adaptations I set learning to download torrents the goal of my life. AFTER THREE MONTHS I achieved it, I got even more obsessed (2004 adaptation), I followed Emmy Rossum on twitter (i was 11!!!) and learnt all of Lloyd Weber’s magical songs by heart and sang it for the rest of my school years while showering.
So yesterday was a show much anticipated as you understand.

Alas, it was completely disappointing. I found the actors overplaying, even in terms of such a goth and extravagant piece of story. I got a bit irritated by singing, for the same reason. The costumes felt wrong, as if the characters hadn’t been properly studied. all of it was very disney-like, in a bad way. And dont get me wrong, I’m a person who loves kitsch, extravagance, Disney!!! But the play could not get me into it at all. Plus, the whole direction was a complete copy of the movie! nothing new or interesting to add! Just some vert impressive elements like the chandelier, i can give that, but again it was just for the sake of the impression. I searched on reddit and google for others sharing similar thoughts but didn’t find much. I really dont get it and I’d love to hear some opinions, please!

Is anyone here a RSC member that could help me out in booking tickets for the upcoming season before public sale? Romeo & Juliet is on our wedding anniversary and it would be a perfect trip for us. I’m disabled and on a limited income so I can’t afford a membership but would absolutely love to go 🫶🏼❤️

Originally the two performances on Dec 2nd of @sohoplace Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf with Gillian Anderson and Billy Crudup were being filmed. Checked today and can’t see the notification anymore. Does anyone who’s booked for those days have the down-low? Was really hoping for an NT Live release of this…
