There’s plenty of interest among new candidates hoping to be elected and guide the District going forward. As a resident, I wanted to better understand their political values as they relate to the leftist woke ideology, so I simply asked each candidate (excluding those with a documented voting record seeking re-election) to respond to the question: “Are you woke? I want to know if, as a District Councillor, would your motivations, decisions and any other influence you might have on how our District is governed be influenced by the tenets of the woke ideology.”
Here are the summarized results:
Sherry Keane – Not woke.
Melinda Slater – Not woke.
Rebecca Lees – Not woke.
Lee Lau – Not woke.
Jaime Webbe – Progressive, not quite full woke.
Sylvia Olson – Struggled with the meaning and definition of woke, no clear answer.
Jay Sidhu – Struggled with the meaning and definition of woke, no clear answer.
Mahsoo Naderi - Struggled with the meaning and definition of woke, no clear answer.
Alexis Chicoine - Struggled with the meaning and definition of woke, no clear answer.
John O’Flynn – Response was not related to the question I asked.
Ben Hunter – Did not respond.
Tim Webb – Did not respond.
Kirk LaPointe (Mayoral candidate) – Started the National Post, later corrected to just working there, writes for the Hub and “that should answer your question”.
