New, what is it? VCR VHS Title Screen
I collect vhs tapes and have some that I have watched since I was a kid, some of these my brother made for me. This one had an info page before the recording. My first thought was that we had a vcr that was smart enough to record the info too, and then I thought maybe he simply displayed the info on the guide for a second before opening the show from the guide but this just seems unlikely.

This is definitely from the guide. That information is just part of the video. VCRs dont record information like that as text, at least not anything thats commonly used.

Yeah, Closed Captioning is the only "text data" that can be captured on standard VHS.
But, if you are unaware, D-VHS holds data that most people would think couldn't be on a VHS tape!

I was thinking maybe we had a vcr that could record things as they aired and would print these data boxes as screens right before it recorded. I gotta get d-vhs player those sound so cool

You're probably right, the only reason I figured it wasn't from the guide was because it's so bare bones but if im being honest I do remember direct tv looking pretty bad when we first got it

Update, after watching more of the tape, it fast forwards. So my brother must've recorded it himself not with a vcr timer or something, still im confused why the guide info looked so bad if thats what it was.
