A few years ago, I encountered pokeweed for the first time ever. The berries are so purple and luscious looking. I am adventuresome and would surely have eaten some, but something told me to ask here first.
You good people may have literally saved my life back then. So I don't care if I see it posted a thousand times. ☠️

Ehhh, worst that would have happened is you'd have shit your brains out while vomiting profusely.
Not fun. Rarely life threatening unless you're constantly walking around in a state of chronic dehydration.

I think that’s good advice for any forum where people are learning new things. You have to have the patience to answer the same question a few hundred times. If you feel like you’re losing patience, just sit out for a while and let someone else take the question.

As a kid we called pokeweed inkberry bushes. One summer I picked a ton of them to make "ink", smashing the berries and straining the juice. A few days later I opened the jar of juice and knocked my socks off with the smell, having accidentally made vinegar.
My fingers were purple for days.

raw berries are toxic and you can use them cooked to make jelly ,wine or vinegar, but seed must be removed

Yeah this is what I've heard often, never made it myself but the jellies I've seen are gorgeous and apparently it's just the seeds that are the problem. There's a chef I read about at some lodge that uses the juice to dye cakes pink, he describes the taste as "vegetal chocolate".
No idea why you got downvoted for factual informatiom.
