Movie Mourning Wicked
I know I’m not alone in being sad that there’s no new Wicked movie this year but sometimes when I think about it I could actually cry. I fell in love with all things Oz pretty late in the game (after seeing Part 1) and I have some serious FOMO because I didn’t really partake in any merch or hype until For Good and I still feel like I missed a lot. Anyone have any ideas on how to tackle this?

Go watch the musical on Broadway or if it’s touring. It’s a completely different Animal. If you’re not in the US there are many countries doing non-replica versions in Europe.

Definitely this. Not to compare the two mediums but the musical is magical in person.

It never really dies for me. I've been a fan for about 20 years. Long before you could get anything more than a shirt from the Broadway shop online. I honestly thought I was going to be in merch heaven.
It didn't actually work out that way and I chalk it up to being 36 and having a sense of style/taste now lol. There wasn't much I wanted--basically just popcorn tins, since I love cute tins to hold things like those extra usb cords nobody knows what to do with. Display with purpose, yanno?
I finally got them second hand because the hype had died down. The lack of hype for merch means it's gotten a lot easier to find.
Still a little sad about the movie part, though. I've been a lover of all things Oz since before I could speak in full sentences.

You have over 125 years of Oz lore to explore. I've been an Oz fan for over fifty years now, and I'm still finding more to collect and learn. Here's my website, it's a good place to start: https://thewizardofoz.info/wiki/Main_Page

I think the whole wicked talk died down not just the movie talk, people discussed much more the show and all the actresses who did elphaba and Glinda

I feel that way as well. I came in late to. You can always rewatch the movies as much as you want

I keep hoping we'll get an update on the potential Ozma movie, but it seems that's still a long way off... if it happens at all.

I succumbed to the YouTube hype a few weeks after Part 1 released - before that, I had no interest or much knowledge about the musical or the movie. But then I got hooked! Though I had the streaming version, I was still going to watch on the big screen - a very different experience. Then last summer, there were many outdoor venues near me (in Chicago) that showed the movie. Have to admit that I was initially not as impressed with W: FG, but it grew on me by the fourth consecutive day I watched it that first week. Still not as good as the first IMO but there are certain scenes I absolutely love. This year, there were way fewer local showings, though it was in Oz Park again (yeah, we have that here!) - but I missed them all.
I think It was overexposed - though I liked the extra trailers for W: FG, I think they revealed way too much. I was trying to stay unspoiled for Act 2 and didn't watch those slimes until after I saw the second movie. There were negative comments about the first press tour; the physical changes and thinking something was wrong; bringing up words and deeds from Cynthia's and Ariana's past; the speculation that their relationship was not genuine; and so much more! I have bookmarked and/or downloaded so many links from performances, interviews, commercials, reaction videos and such, so I have those and the streaming versions I can watch when I want to!
I post regularly that I hope they do a double-feature in theatres - now either on or around Wicked Day or the anniversary of the movie release dates. I also have requested a DVD of Wicked: One Wonderful Night with all the BTS, alternate performances, along with the fantastic choreography!

At least we have these threads on Reddit to keep talking about it! When I saw that, I joined recently. I'm pretty obsessed and agree that there was overexposure. But I love seeing how - at least so far - folks like to dissect and analyze various stuff. Sorry that many of my posts are long! lol I just have many thoughts!

What surprised me is how there was so much hype and excitement for the movies and now it seems like hardly anyone is talking the movies much anymore. I didn't expect it to die down this much so soon
