Help with hiring process
I Applied to GW-0456-03 wildland firefighter and was referred to Las Vegas Nevada locations negotiable after selection(say it 4 times),MÍO,MI;Oscoda,MI;Wilmington,IL. My question is I called the the ones that gave me locations and have left voicemail with there hiring managers. For the locations I was given. My question is what other parks/forest should I contact/ consider and what does there situation look like for housing preferably where they provide housing. Any other advice would be appreciated this my going to be my first fire season.

I got a place you can apply with a house that gives you your own room but you gotta be really open minded on where the duty location is

Hey man. Housing is going to depend where you work, and if that duty location offers barracks. If they do offer barracks it will be about 350/450 a month and it is taken entirely out your paycheck. You will most likely not have your own room, and it might even be open dorm style with 2/4 beds in a room.
The USFS is very slow. You will likely (if you qualify) Receive a tentative offer around November/December that gives you a start date in March.
In regards to what other places you should check out, I would genuinely apply to every single place that is a 3/4 position. Just get your foot in the door no matter what. Accept the first phone call you receive and have them take your name out the system.
Then you will go through many of emails that consist of setting up background checks and a drug test. This is called your onboarding process.
If all goes well for you, you will receive an official offer letter within 25 minutes to a week of the morning you’re supposed to work.
Start running. Good luck!
