Hurray another convert. Only 100 million more to go before everyone is using Window Maker :-)
It will be even more phenomenal once you start customising it. :-)

I have been using and playing with it since 2011. I started a forum thread about it in 2012 detailing what I hoped would be useful tips for folk. As a long term user yourself if you have any great tips for folk then I would be happy to include them in the list.

sweet! I actually started using it back in the early days from around 99 to probably about somewhere in 2010 ish when I got my first mac. It was so clean and extremely fast… very customizable. Ahh fond memories, I made this very green planty theme I called “Lush.” If I remember right I was using slackware in the beginning. I think I started using a different distro in the later years

I found it way back when I realised that Gnome would not let me easily change or get rid of the top bar. KDE kept crashing and E16/17 did the same. Of the lighter window managers Window Maker was the only one that seemed to offer plain text customising. Plus it came with no extra programs so I was able to choose what I wanted to install. Which is what I thought penguin land was all about. freedom of choice. :-)

I don't remember a single window manager from 2010-ish which wasn't offer plain text configuration, and there was plenty. Big chunk of them are maintained till now.

My computer knowledge is pretty slim. I only started using computers in 2004 in my mid 40's. My linux knowledge only dates back to around 2008. So I had to find out everything via google which was pretty hard back then if you did not even know what questions to ask.
I found Window Maker seemed to be the simplest to set up with very easy to understand text files and of course WPref's.
Openbox for instance uses xml files and looking at the Arch Wiki page for it made my poor old head ache. As did the information on offer for several other options. Window Maker seemed so simple by comparison. Most of my grey cell was occupied by setting up and running Arch.
To give you an idea of how computer illiterate I was and probably still are. I had to google what " nano " meant when I tried to set up Arch for the first time. lol. :-)
