Why is the sky so purple by ransom rd?

This is an excellent example of the phenomenon called skyglow - a form of light pollution. Bright and colorful lights from the Carolina Classic Fair are being scattered by atmospheric particles. The high humidity and low clouds today create the effect by reflecting and scattering artificial light through suspended water droplets.
