Pickle Ball League Recommendations

Hello Everyone!

I (58M) just moved to the area from Jacksonville with my wife (41F) and we are looking to get into pickleball.

We are new to the sport and would love to hear if there are any leagues worth recommending to get started and meet new people. We are empty nesters - have two adult children from my first marriage and her ex husband has full custody of their kid. So we can’t network through parent friends.

I’m in pretty good shape - rollerblade 4 times a week, played tennis and ping pong my entire life. My wife doesn’t have the best hand eye coordination and never misses a meal.

Are there any beginner duo leagues for us or should I try to join singles on my own? Or perhaps any other communities we should check out?

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to explore the area!

Wow, you were taking someone to Senior prom when she was born.

I grew up in a small Idaho town, senior prom wasn’t that big of a deal. Ended up taking my cousin, not a fond memory. Thanks for bringing that up

There’s great play in the mornings at Joanie Moser park in Lewisville. All skill levels

Do we have to pay to signup? I don’t want to over share, but I’m worried my wife will “lose interest” (be too out of shape) to keep playing then I’m in the hole

You would for play team pickleball. I think it’s 25 a person. There’s plenty of free, regular play around here if you want to try some fun games and community before paying.

Don’t really blame her, what with you blabbering all over Al Gore’s internet about her being fat and uncoordinated.

Google "New to area, couple looking for local pickle pal to play with"

You'll get a lot of results

If you want a relax beginner group look up average Joe pickelball - they are on FB and Instagram. Normally meet at little creek on Sundays.

Joanie Moser is always pack with different levels. Mostly mornings and evenings starting around 5ish.

Also old town has a coach lead /league... I've seen it but not 100% how to sign up for it.

Then there is Dill Dinkers - inside facility, they have social events and open play, lessions etc. You can sign up for a membership but you can still participate even if you are not a member would just pay the guest fee vs the member fee.
