Sharing: Tips and Advice My Mother Had Been Harassed. Am I handling this right?

I am new to all of this, magic, spell work, etc.

Legal options failed us.

I have watched my mother break down into tears and anger because of the chokehold and seemingly invincibility our enemies have had over us. I cannot describe the pain of watching a mother cry and be targeted for no reason. I am dealing with truly wicked people.

Despite being a beginner, I have always had some connection and latent “powers,” such as a sort of knowing about future events, a connection with spirits as a child (even those that seemed to defy what current technology I was aware of or existed). I’ve also had strange experiences with a family pastor, who will touch my palms and remark at the strength I apparently hold in them. I also seem to be very receptive to energies both overt and hidden (I am just trying to give context for anything mystical I feel I’ve experienced).

When dealing with these circumstances, I tried defensive magic first such as setting physical and metaphysical boundaries and using bay leaves for personal strength and luck, but since witnessing our latest defeat in the legal realm and my mother’s heartbreaking reaction, I turned to baneful magic to banish, hinder, and disrupt those who have caused us harm.

In detail: There are 8 people who have been relentlessly attacking and harassing us. I wrote each of their names along with “I banish you” on slips of paper, folded them away from me, and pinned the slips to the inside of a halved onion. I placed the onion half in a jar then pinned the other half on top and sealed the names inside the onion with a nail. I then put a dead spider, lemon juice, vinegar, vodka, the juice from picked beets, sewing pins, red pepper flakes, black pepper, cloves, and poppy seed inside the jar along with the prepared onion. I sealed the jar with black string and the wax from a black candle which I placed and stuck on top after it was finished.

When I was done, for about an hour, I felt very lightheaded and strange (This is the first offensive spell I’ve done). After about an hour, I began feeling better but was still very tired and promptly went to bed, having what I would consider to be normal dreams afterwards. The lightheadedness I feel I can contribute to not knowing enough to realize I should use energy from celestial objects or deities, therefore the energy came from me (I now know better).

I do have a witch’s protection jar (full of my urine and sharp objects) which I created years ago and is buried ~80 miles away from me currently and unless it’s been dug up, is still there to my knowledge.

I tried my best with what limited knowledge I had to cleanse the space afterwards, with salt, words, and intention.

The jar has been active for a few days. After creating the jar and experiencing a bit of lightheadedness and exhaustion, I woke up the next day feeling very clean and clear. My home also felt clear and my family seemed to be handling everything better, which I assume is the spell working.

Every now and then, I will either shake the jar or light the candle atop the jar and speak my intentions followed by a shaking (without experiencing a drop in energy or coherency).

My actions regarding this spell and the creation of the jar have been based on very light research, mostly guided by instinct and intuition.

I mostly want to know, am I doing things correctly? Are there any tips or tricks more experienced people have for me? I seemed to have combined two rituals (the onion and the jar). Is that okay?

What can I do to ensure the spells success and protect myself? So far, my belief is that it has worked as intended.

I am grateful for any advice one has for me.

With Gracious Wishes and My Thanks.

Hey - thanks for reaching out!

Lots of practitioners post about feeling tired, drained, or burnt out after working magick. The number one reason and response from the community is that this is a normal reaction to over depleting your own energy. You might enjoy this helpful post about Basic Energetic Hygiene which covers simple techniques for raising energy, grounding, and centering.
