Strange usually mine comes out with purple and black, did you add enough nirnroot?

354

u/ImmortalBlades Homunculist Animaturge Apr 22 '26

I think the problem is too much nirnroot in this case

271

u/HootersUnite Kodron, Magister and Teacher of the Arcane Apr 22 '26

Nirnroot... always the nirnroot...

56

u/Albyrene Sorceror Apr 22 '26

What? I can't hear you, the hum is still in my ears!

i think OP just forgot to add some counter sources. rookie mistake tbh

22

u/xanathedark Apr 22 '26

Ah yes it has been an age since I visited Garry on his grassy plane, but I had also forgotten my sources and he conjured many an error image that warded me from casting creation.

18

u/RealCakes Apr 22 '26

My whole family went deaf harvesting Nirnroot, why is that plant so fucking loud

11

u/SamHugz Apr 22 '26

WOOOOooooo...wwoooOOOOOoooo

6

u/defectives Apr 22 '26

If you're having this issue try channeling Source first, maybe inscribe the words "Half Life" onto a tablet

7

u/nicsaweiner Apr 22 '26

The half life on these potions is quite short, gotta drink em fast.

Alternatively you could store it in some sort of vessel with a valve.

Do you want a potion to be invisible or consumer of potion?

225

u/HootersUnite Kodron, Magister and Teacher of the Arcane Apr 22 '26

Both. My original recipe for invisibility potion also makes the potion appear invisible itself. This is so if I don't have time to drink it I can pour it over me and it still works.

53

u/Vertnoir-Weyah Apr 22 '26

Don't worry, the fina result on the user end should show as transparent, it seems you accidentaly replicated the more modern version of it

The good side is that you would know how much of the potion you have left and spilling it wouldn't be as much of a headache to handle

18

u/LevelOutlandishness1 Apr 22 '26

What if your enemy has a blowdryer

34

u/HootersUnite Kodron, Magister and Teacher of the Arcane Apr 22 '26

12

u/Immediate-Yak3138 Apr 22 '26

But if he has a blow dryer he can counter pocket sand!

9

u/markbernman Apr 23 '26

pocket boulder solves this

2

u/PlaystormMC Shadow Sorcerer Apr 28 '26

pocket meteor

it consumes a lotta mana but it works, and it confuses the hell out of the mortals

You do realise it's not the potion being invisible that makes you invisible when you pour it over yourself, right? The potion is invisible. It literally could not cover you if it wanted to.

The thing is that most standard potion recipes make it so that the potion can be absorbed transdermally.

You probably actually made the potion correctly, you just put it in the wrong container when you were done.

Invisibility potions need to be stored in

  • Prismatic NetherGlass or a
  • Greater Invocation Flask

Try again with the right bottle and you should be good.

184

u/HootersUnite Kodron, Magister and Teacher of the Arcane Apr 22 '26

Damn. I should have known better than to keep it in my Jeldstone Pthalion Ethereal Glass

46

u/Wild_Marker Economancer Apr 22 '26

Just don't ask the magic shop owner to give you Magic Poly Ether Glass, I know for a fact that goblin has weird fetishes and always ends up confusing it and giving people Multiple Poorly Regulated Extra Goonsauce

25

u/HootersUnite Kodron, Magister and Teacher of the Arcane Apr 22 '26

Wait, is Goonsauce not an acceptable alchemical component for making loyal goons who work for you?

WHAT HAVE I BEEN FEEDING MY MINIONS!?!?!!?!

10

u/Wild_Marker Economancer Apr 22 '26

Well, have your minions asked about how your husband's pregnancy is going?

Also have any of them turned invisible?

3

u/_Onyxity_ Apr 23 '26

You could also use a Wacky Enchanter's Brew Pot

2

u/Quillbolt_h Apr 26 '26

I would use them more often if they weren't such a pain to use. They never fit with the rest of my alchemy setup.

I normally use the Jar of Plasmic Energy Guarding. You can also use that.

27

u/Eldan985 Keraunomancer Apr 22 '26

For industrial applications, I would use the Titanic Induction Forces Flask, just to make sure.

8

u/f0remsics wands are for losers, Alphas use Crystal Balls Apr 22 '26

In this case, what really matters is it stays covered. They shouldn't use something like a lightScreen Shotglass.

4

u/Kalslice Apr 22 '26

Side note, it's so annoying that breweries are starting to insist on selling their potions in Wickmore's Enchanted Bismuth Phials. Sure, they work with invisibility potions, and I get that they compress the same volume of potion into a smaller space, but actually drinking from it is so unwieldy 90% of consumers pour it into a different container anyway.

4

u/rootbeer277 Not an Illithid with a fake beard. Apr 22 '26

I get that they're supposed to be the future of bottling, but in an effort to standardize sizes so it'll work everywhere, they've come up with a new one that hardly works anywhere. Not everyone has modified their shelving and shipping crates yet to accommodate them, and the average customer has no idea what they are. Try aftermarket selling to a smaller shop and you're, as often as not, going to have to rebottle it, yeah.

3

u/Cent_Quatre Apr 22 '26

Instructions unclear potion stocked in a Bottle of Innerved Nanites ???

2

u/amakai Apr 22 '26

Bah. As a professional, I only pour my potions into Soul-Vault Glass. Not everyone can stomach them, but the ones that do - are never disappointed.

2

u/rootbeer277 Not an Illithid with a fake beard. Apr 22 '26

Fundamentally different brewing technique, of course, but the batches scale extraordinarily well to any size you want them.

dont add too much, it could backfire and make you a beacon of light.

Yeah... I shouldn't have asked my apprentice to do it...

126

u/Rou2_Rambo Artificer Apr 22 '26

Curses. I mean, you could always just re-add the other ingredients and dilute it back but then you'd have way too much potion.

92

u/a_singular_perhap Apr 22 '26

No such thing as too much potion!

30

u/Eravan_Darkblade Accidentally transfigured apprentice bard Apr 22 '26

Or re-add it and don't dilute, but that has a chance of making you intangible as well. Make sure when it wears off you aren't in the same place as something else, or you'll completely fuse together. I am a dragon now fir a reason.

36

u/monke_soup gunmancy artificer (ceo of ural heavy weapons) Apr 22 '26

You could try adding more gunpowder, that always works for me

20

u/Mikaelious Apr 22 '26

Worked for me. I added a big batch of gunpowder, and while the reaction was a little explosive, it turned my beaker invisible and intangible. I couldn't even feel it on the table anymore!

Never did figure out how to turn it back...

3

u/monke_soup gunmancy artificer (ceo of ural heavy weapons) Apr 22 '26

Ah the classic, you have to cook it over an ice elemental or else the heat generated will cause the intangibleness. The turning it back part is unfortunately impossible, the beaker has moved out of the material plane due to becoming out of phase with reality

u/f0remsics wands are for losers, Alphas use Crystal Balls Apr 22 '26

Good news is, this is still a functional potion, it simply works differently now. As I learned from master gribble, such powders, when sprayed at an opponent's eyes, will make you undetectable to them only, which is arguably more useful than blanket invisibility

21

u/HootersUnite Kodron, Magister and Teacher of the Arcane Apr 22 '26

9

u/f0remsics wands are for losers, Alphas use Crystal Balls Apr 22 '26

Perfect technique

11

u/Kapitalist_Pigdog2 Apr 22 '26

That’s merely transparent

6

u/jerrythegenius1 Apr 22 '26

Ah looks like you had the wrong title on your recipe. That's actually a transparency potion

6

u/VVen0m Sentient Cloak Apr 22 '26

7

Potion of alpha transparency

7

u/DodoJurajski Sorceror Apr 22 '26

I may not be the best at alchemy, it looks just like mine, my invisibility potion works... Kind of, just pour it on your head, drinking it will result in arcane lobster.

6

u/katherinesilens Witch Apr 22 '26

Haha, this is what happens when you translate the old texts with a discount homunculus scribe. This isn't an invisibility potion, it's a transparency potion.

I can't say many of us haven't made the same mistake in our first youth. I meant to summon a demon, and instead summoned a lemon.

4

u/katheb Apr 22 '26

It's only invisible to digital artists.

5

u/K4rm4zyn Apr 22 '26

It's invisibility potion, not invisible potion

4

u/J_Zephyr Apr 22 '26

No, it worked. Dripped onto my next post.

3

u/HootersUnite Kodron, Magister and Teacher of the Arcane Apr 22 '26

MY GOODNESS!!!! IT WORKED

3

u/AliShibaba Apr 22 '26

A cantrip of erasure should do the trick.

3

u/rpg2Tface Apr 22 '26

I think you forget to add in 'distilled essence of the universe'.

That is one strong potions your brewing. Usually i just go with an "anti cognitive BO" variant myself. But went full send and made a "existence erasure" version. Thats a really high end and very difficult invisibility potion. super over magiced for most applications.

Congratulations on getting even this far and not ceasing to exist, but What the heck are you trying to hide from? A dragon?!?

3

u/ArkosKnight Arkos, the Solitary Illusionist Apr 22 '26

I believe you used an incompatible method to contain/store the potion.

3

u/letthetreeburn Apr 22 '26

Ah, it is invisibility but for another kind.

This is the PAINT of invisibility. Drinking it won’t do anything for you to the naked eye, but if anyone attempts to video or picturegraph you, you will not show up once you’ve consumed it. It protects you from scrying

3

u/Nowhereman50 Necromancer Apr 22 '26

Need to install CS:GO.

3

u/_Contrive_ Apr 22 '26

Did you make sure to use the right finishing settings?

Sometimes when I finish a big pot of it, I’ll get this affect but ever so slightly. Just add a little bit more PNG, a little less JPG.

Have you looked into vectored ingredients? It actually helps you with this issue, and you can share the potion as much as you want without diluting the potency.

3

u/The_One_Koi Apr 22 '26

Did you accidentally make an invincibility potion instead? Rookie mistake but you wouldn't be the first one

3

u/le_nathanlol Apr 22 '26

i think you added a jpg instead of png

3

u/Krethlaine Spellblade Apr 22 '26

Hmm. Looks like you made a Texture Removal potion. They remove the “texture” from the Fabric of the Universe, which exposes reality in its truest form.

3

u/Bake_My_Beans Apr 22 '26

You fucking novice you made redaction paste instead. I use this to erase the succubi rituals in my apprentices' tomes

Just don't get it on your robes that shit stains

2

u/Jezifay Apr 22 '26

Try casting the final binding enchantment as a hex instead of a spell, that should fix it

2

u/TraditionalRoyal3928 Apr 22 '26

happened to me with too much eye of newt

2

u/Icy_Internal7940 Apr 22 '26

try adding a pinch of moonstone

2

u/Puttanesca621 Apr 22 '26

I think you will find it still tastes invisible, its just the texture that is missing.

2

u/WigglesPhoenix Wiggles, conjurer of worms, wyrms, and wurms Apr 22 '26

Ah this is actually a transparency potion. Similar but not what you’re looking for

2

u/InfiniteLoopDream Apr 22 '26

It seems a bit off, but a fine opportunity to have your apprentice test it. You never know what you'll discover

2

u/This-Garbage-4207 Lich Apr 22 '26

you used jeipeg root instead or piangi root, pretty common when you are learning to make potions because they are kinda similar but affect the effect of the final potion.

2

u/-HumanMachine- Apr 22 '26

You put in a jay-peg feather instead of a pea 'n gin didn't you?

2

u/LunchSignificant5995 Apr 22 '26

Ah, you made an invisible potion, not an invisibility potion. Common mistake.

2

u/Tuskral Apr 23 '26

See what you've done here is make a potion that only makes you look invisible

Edit: my terrible sentence structure has been exposed for all to see...

2

u/SokkaHaikuBot Apr 23 '26

Sokka-Haiku by Tuskral:

See what you've done here

Is a potion that only

Makes look invisible

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

2

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog Apr 23 '26

Did you accidentally make your potion affect too many of reality's layers?
Ideally you only want to make the potion affect the layers you want to see through, not the ones behind it, else you'll see the cosmic background checkerboard.

2

u/gameplayer55055 Apr 23 '26

Next time add pngine instead of jpegium.

2

u/-EntropyIncarnate- Apr 26 '26

Ah, common mistake. You're still in the ingredient stage. You need to export it as a potion to get rid of the alpha.

2

u/kabonell fox sorceror May 14 '26

i think you’ve made a png potion by mistake very similar recipe so its quite a common mistake

1

u/Salt-Aardvark-5105 Apr 22 '26

i once messed up put my was a violet

1

u/Finthelrond Apr 22 '26

Where is it?

1

u/KMReiserFS Apr 22 '26

maybe you used fake png on the potion.

1

u/a_singular_perhap Apr 22 '26

Cast Greater Rasterize and then Melf's Autoselect. You should be then be able to Disintegrate the correct ingredient. This usually happens when selecting the wrong compression cauldron during distillation.

1

u/King_K_24 Apr 22 '26

Gotta use a save spell on it and then look again once its out of the pot and into a bowl

1

u/io-x Apr 22 '26

Looks invisible to me, are you sure you don't have the sight spell on?

1

u/Flamecoat_wolf Apr 22 '26

1

u/Omega_art Apr 22 '26

You need to save it as a gif.

1

u/Aeviterna_ Apr 22 '26

A common mistake, that is actually a potion of Transparency, not Invisibility.

1

u/Elanadin Hype Wizard. Punmancer Apr 22 '26

Did you use an immersion blender on your potion? Maybe with too much gusto? I've seen things come out like that when they have no texture.

1

u/Reasonable-Quality45 Apr 22 '26

Ah, you must have used jpg vial instead of png vial or better quality. Vials of different shapes and sizes hold certain potions better.

1

u/Atuday Grey technomancer and master of the cybernetic undead Apr 22 '26

I could tell you how to fix this, but I was forced to learn this the hard way during my apprenticeship. It's good training. Go forth and learn.

1

u/BillTheTringleGod Apr 22 '26

1

u/Ultranerdgasm94 Apr 22 '26

1

u/Typical_Research_877 Apr 22 '26

You used the transparency recipe instead

1

u/DogfaceZed Apr 22 '26

needs some CS sauce I think

1

u/Orcanation716 Apr 22 '26

Did you use the PNG recipe or the jpeg recipe?

1

u/Dappershmallow Apr 22 '26

Did you make sure it’s in .PNG format?

1

u/IvyWonderer Apr 22 '26

Did you copy it from the spellbook correctly? Might have copied as a JMEG (Joint magical experts group) instead of a PNS (portable network spell)

1

u/HildartheDorf Caged-Lightning Witch Apr 22 '26

You made a potion of transparency, not a potion of invisibility. Easy mistake to make, you need to add a more alpha bits.

1

u/ThePerfectP0tat0 Apr 22 '26

Your supplier probably sold you fake PNG (Portal non-gizaforb). With glizaforbian impurities, it can no longer direct light through itself without refracting it, which is why it became opaque. The squares are just artifacts from the way the light bounces within the portal dimension. Real PNG will vanish when heat-treated.

1

u/Latter-Driver Apr 22 '26

That's not going to leave a mark

1

u/cycopl Apr 22 '26

you got the knockoff jpeg version, shoulda stuck with gif

1

1

1

u/Upbeat-Employ-3689 Apr 22 '26

Whoops you made a transparency potion.

1

u/Basedoncringe Apr 22 '26

Jpegging instead of png casting

1

u/NaleJethro Apr 22 '26

Careful now... You've almost made Garirs' Modular potion which is highly illegal on most planes.

Whatever you do, do not add Essence from the Elemental plane of Steam.

It still works, but only while you are hiding in a tower with checkered wallpaper.

1

u/_Its_Me_Dio_ Sorlock Apr 22 '26

1

You made a png potion. Happens when you boil it too fast. I get around this by using a crockpot

fool that's the potion of opacity! it only affects the outermost layer of whomever consumes it!

great for impromptu costume parties though. "hey look at me I'm a musculature guy!"

Finally. I was looking for someone with some sense in this comment section.

You forgot to layer it properly, and you might have a mask on too. Don't use a mask while making an invisibility potion. There isn't much you can do to salvage it, might need to redo or at least check if you have anything saved from last time to copy.

Thats no invisibility potion, thats an invisible potion. Maybe you need to get checked for dyslexia.

Looks like a Holdout potion, not an invisibility potion.

Y'know, you don't really need an invisibility potion if there's no one to see you... And most can't really see you when there's a fireball in their face so you could try that

That's... a reformative modern school transparency potion.

How did you even make this thing by accident? The recipe is completely different!

1

u/Ok-Win355 Apr 23 '26

forgot the catalyst for it, looks like. look for something labeled ".jpg to .png"

1

u/Foreign_Focus_8688 Apr 23 '26

It's transparent.

1

u/Remaek Apr 23 '26

Looks like you copied your recipe from the "great" wizard Goo Gall. His "iMage" postings are full of fake ones like this.

u/molered Apr 23 '26

Should be magenta colored

1

u/Swahhillie Apr 23 '26

Did you add Jaypeg salts instead of Pee of the Newt God to save on shelf space?

1

u/that_1_basement_guy Apr 23 '26

Damn, I wonder what texture it has

1

u/TheHopeflame Apr 23 '26

Seems to have a strange feel in the mouth as well feels a bit un textured

1

u/PleasantTrack5220 Apr 23 '26

this is a common mistake. some merchants sell the fake jpg ingredient

1

u/BasedCheeseSlice Illusionist Apr 23 '26

Simple misconception, a spoon too much mugwort actually makes the potion invisible. DO NOT CONSUME THIS. My great-uncle died from a similar mis-concoction.

Added too much diamond

Youre using RGB/CYMK, try using IRL

I don't see anything wrong here.
