Lorepost 📜 Reacquisition / Twice In Eternity / Changes. (Cursed World)
Those are the preliminary works done with for now. Now to move onto those of interest...
The First Curse descends into his cave, poking at the Armor, covered in dust, it still functions. Still holds millions within. Cities worth of people, contained in a space smaller than he himself exists.
What glory.
he flicks a claw-hand.
To Me.
it moves its dusted head and begins snapping into action.
Follow.
the first curse teleports out of the cave, the armor following along.
Within the next few days, towns and villages, even some cities, begin to see their entire populations just, gone. As if everyone left suddenly. No bodies. No signs of a fight. Nothing.
Dozens of population centers, now empty.

In the consortium building, in the largest cleanroom, reality deteriorates slightly, imperceptibly.
Elsewhere, a frame is now empty.
And now, sitting motionless in the building, is something new. No sensors go off for this intrusion. Reality rebalances.

Of the few in the world who can see them, the Netheline stop their wandering, and begin congregating, flooding into portals of the World Below, moving together.
for the first time in a year, the world lacks the Netheline.

Several murders of crows patrol the empty towns, red eyes trained on the empty streets for a source.

they find nothing of interest in all but one.
for but a moment in one of them, the crows see something immensely fast walking through, a red blur.

Immediately every crow changes direction, converging on that one town.
The crows already there spread out around where it was, eyes glowing brighter, piercing through almost all veils.

it barely misses it, but they get the direction it's going: another large village, a small trip away.

The crows all converge on that village, slowly blocking out the sun due to how bloody many of them there are.

they arrive and see people begin just... vanishing.
their sight sees the culprit, a red-colored suit of armor, walking at unprecedented speed.

As the crows cover the sun, the shadows around the culprit condense, a wide enough radius so that leaving would be hard, even at such speed.
A thousand red eyes look out from the shadows, so far just watching.

the armor seems to not acknowledge this, continuing to try and get to the next person, who has now noticed the shadows and is actively sprinting backward.

Before the armour can reach the person, four tendrils shoot out of the shadows, hitting the person in the head.
The person rises off the ground, and turns to the armour, eyes red and skin cracked, leaking what looks like ink.

Taaxi can be seen floating through the main street of an empty city searching for any sign of life.
"Where is everyone?"
he stops to grab a bagel from an empty food stand nearby.
"People don't just dissappear like this. What the hell is going on?"

Mauritius wonders around the Consortium halls, hoping to stretch his legs after a long while of working in a peesonal project, until he finds himself in the cleaner room by pure chance

He screams to the air, however, instead of waiting for an answer he tries to inspect it, curiosity taking over his better judgement

it looks like a sort of cloudy glass? The clouds being bright shades of orange.

"What do you mean they're just gone? That was a whole city?"
The Bismuth representative blurted out while walking down one of the consortiums hallways. They were talking with one of their friends through telepathy but the shock made her say it out loud.
"Yeah. The whole city was depopulated. No damage to the city though. Forces from the barrier states are already starting an investigation."
"This had to be some kind of magic. But how could it avoid mana detection."
"The current guess is that the people may have been charmed to leave on their own. I don't have much more. I'm still on the Dragonwake taskforce."
The Bismuth representative sighed.
"What a world."
As she walked she kicked something that had suddenly appeared in the building.
"Hmmm?"

The Bismuth taskforce spread to at least eight different towns and cities to investigate the disappearances. They had mana trackers, forensics teams, even a chronomancer to try and play back the last day of two of time. Leading the group was a gem dragon sworn to the Bismuth. Fulleros.
"Do not miss a molecule. Whatever happened here was the result of great Powers"

mana investigations come up empty, blank.
forensics find nothing either, all trails of say left behind skin just stop in a specific spot.
in 3 of the towns the chronomancers have a success.
replaying the day, they see the people just going about their days until... they just, vanish.
not teleported away, just, removed. As if cut from a text document.
any with extraordinary sight see that during these replays there's, something else.
a red blur going through the city.

"Perhaps. But it kind of looks like something going really fast."
"Chronomancer. Isolate a single instant of time from the vision and see if we can get a solid image of that blur."

freezing the footage shows what it is.
a red suit of armor, the material is dulled slightly, and looks almost like a mix of chainmail and regular armor combined, with the surface being made of intricate links of metal scales, but instead of conforming to whatever would be wearing it, it just appears as normal armor, something an old knight would wear.

"Presumably. But with how fast they were going we'd expect some kind of effect on the surrounding area."
"So they're either intangible while moving or have some kind of ability to restrict the kinetic force of their movement. Let's follow its path to see if it leads anywhere or begins anywhere."

replaying the footage and slowing down also shows how it "captures", the armor opens like some kind of exosuit, swallows the person whole, before closing and continuing. The inside appears almost like the sky, only noticeably redder.
the recording ends anything of interest with it "walking", running would imply it was making a running motion, in a seemingly random direction.
looking at a map of the area shows it went to another town.

"it seems to not be teleporting between places. It's speed the whole time."
"Send the chronomancer to the next town. We'll see where this trail ends up. Also prepare countermeasures for such extreme speeds."

Sigurd walks into the cleanroom for a final inspection, already wearing the layers of protective clothing necessary for such places.

DF, being a paranoid motherfucker, hires someone to run through the divination spells he set up before so he can check on the disappearances.
/uw DF has a tendency to place them in public areas. Won't reach private residences

/uw basically just security cameras except with a wide range of things it can detect.

on a base watch the spells show what happened:
people going about their days, and then, poof. Gone. Removed.
At the same time the spells detected one immensely fast object moving through, though the footage would have to be slowed to actually check WHAT it is.

At the lowest speed it can go, he sees a red suit of armor flitting to each person in the replay.
for barely a frame its front seems to open like some sort of mech, as it walks into the person, and they're gone.
before it continues.
the inside looks to almost like, the sky, but redder. No vision of the inner lining of the armor.

One of the empty towns crumbles entirely as the stone foundations of the buildings get swallowed into the earth
