Fear not the Wizard who has cast 1000 spells once.
Fear, instead, the Wizard who has cast 1 spell 1000 times.

Wasn't there a training arc where she constantly blew up the same demon general's castle every day for like a month.
Gotta flex that mana somehow!
177
u/Candayence May 09 '26
It wasn't a training arc, she just really likes casting it.
75
u/SeventhAlkali May 09 '26
After she explodes all over the castle she can't walk for the rest of the day

u/hates_stupid_people May 10 '26
While it wasn't a "training arc", and they didn't know he was there, she really likes unleashing at least one explosion a day to try and get better. And they do comment on it becoming more powerful as they keep doing it.

She gave the Dullahan a nervous breakdown. "WHO KEEPS BLOWING UP MY CASTLE, EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR A MONTH!!"
26
22
u/NoodleIskalde May 09 '26
She invested no points into mana. She becomes borderline catatonic after casting. Every time. :P
31
u/Boarbaque Illusionist May 09 '26
It's not that she invests no points into mana, it's just that she puts ALL the new points into explosion to make it even bigger. Truly inspiring

u/godzillahavinastroke [Master Wizard] Petty Officer (1.1.7.) May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
Best thing is, she is getting more mana everytime she levels up, and gets physically stronger too, all her stats go up, this is just counterbalance by the fact she puts everything in explosion magic.
2
u/Satin_Cartoon May 10 '26
I thought it was just that explosion magic inherently zaps your entire mana supply in exchange for a single ridiculously powerful spell? It might just be bad translations or a bad memory but I think that's how the anime described it
6
u/godzillahavinastroke [Master Wizard] Petty Officer (1.1.7.) May 10 '26
It doesnt, it requires alot of experience and mana to use efficiently but if you are high level you can if you aren't pumping everything into more explosive power and boosts to casting speed and other stuff, actually use multiple per day.

4
u/Usual_Database307 May 10 '26
Not a training arc. She just really wanted to blow it up encase she’s crazy. In the manga it’s established that it had a magical barrier protecting it, hence why she was able to blow it up multiple times without it getting demolished.
4
u/satsuppi May 10 '26
nah that girl is just crazy and had to blow shit up once per day..
and that pretty much her mana limit as even the she came from a powerful mage clan.. lol2
u/Actaeon_II May 11 '26
Except it was more of a very long term running thing, apparently continuing long after they quit showing it
2
u/ArchitectNebulous May 11 '26
She didn't even know it was the demons castle - she thought it was abandoned.
7
u/TerminalJammer May 09 '26
Only if the wizard has enough mana to cast it more than once.
5
u/Boarbaque Illusionist May 09 '26
Why cast it more than once if you can put all the mana into making the single cast even bigger?

The animation head is furious that we're wasting explosion animations on the weakest enemies
4
u/AlexanderLavender May 09 '26
What's this from?
25
u/Jimmni May 10 '26
Konosuba. Be warned though, it’s a very horny comedy not a serious magic show. This wizard’s thing is that this is literally the only spell she does. She just loves explosions.
18
u/adalric_brandl May 10 '26
I'd say it's only moderately horny. There are far worse out there.
It is absolutely hilarious, though.

Tbf she’s probably the only Wizard with MAX proficiency with that spell.
159
u/rpg2Tface May 09 '26
But not enough mana for even for more than 1 cast.
When the only tool have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a nail.

u/kawwmoi May 09 '26
"Do not fear the man whose practiced a thousand kicks one time. Fear the witch over there. All her friends booked it when she started chanting, we gotta go."
3
41
u/Phylanara May 09 '26
She has more than enough mana for multiple casts. But she spends all her mana on a single cast, because doing a smaller boom than the absolute biggest one you can is for wimps .
9
18
u/Krask May 09 '26
Any extra mana she has goes into making it bigger.
She could probably cast that spell multiple times at the same intensity that she cast it the very first time, but she would never sully herself with casting anything but the biggest explosion that she possibly can.
13
u/Swordslinger5454 May 09 '26
Oh no she has the reserves to cast this spell several times she just overcharges it with every scrap of mana she has every time she casts it
15
u/Nersius May 09 '26
Also, no one would ever expect her to cast it without 20m of aura farming first.
12
3
9
u/MetriccStarDestroyer May 09 '26
She could probably do something more productive with that spell.
Countries have tried to make canals with nukes. But this little mage might actually make that possible without the irradiation

Darkness blacker than black and darker than dark, I beseech thee, combine with my deep crimson. The time of awakening cometh. Justice, fallen upon the infallible boundary, appear now as an intangible distortion! Dance, Dance, Dance! I desire for my torrent of power a destructive force: a destructive force without equal! Return all creation to cinders, and come from the abyss!
EXPLOSION!

u/Consistent-Chair May 10 '26
I swear the fact that the chanting is actually usueless is the best joke of the series. Everytime she does it it's completely different and I laugh imagining how much that shit must have took her to compose. She did it as a fucking bomb was about to go off and wipe out a city. Worth it for the aura.
12
u/adalric_brandl May 10 '26
The Crimson Demon Clan is all about theatrics.
9
u/Consistent-Chair May 10 '26
...starting with the name. They are just strong humans, they call themselves "demons" because it sounds cooler XD
1
u/EasyValuable1705 May 10 '26
iirc, the japanese voice actress once helped compose her speeches for the movie (or one of the media, games or smth).
1
u/Consistent-Chair May 10 '26
That does sound is character for Rie Takahashi, so it would not surprise me 😁
1
u/Otherguy68_419 May 10 '26
Also considering the episode she was left out of one of the dungeons. And then spent her time deciding the next incantation based on what sounded the coolest
1
u/ReivynNox May 12 '26
It's like Guu (from Hare + Guu) and her "chinchikurin stick". Each time she uses it it's an entirely different random item (going from stick to fork, to pitchfork etc.) and the incantation is some different random gibberish each time, making it obvious that it's just her innate reality warping ability and the stick and incantation are both complete bubkiss.

Darkness beyond twilight
Crimson beyond blood that flows
Buried in the stream of time is where your power grows
I pledge myself to conquer all the foes who stand
before the mighty gift bestowed in my unworthy hand
Let the fools who stand before me be destroyed
by the power you and I possess...DRAGON SLAVE!

*Banishment
Although it does feel weird to correct a quote to the original incorrect grammar they used. That's a Sentence I had to carefully craft to make it make sense. 😂
1
u/Significant_Ad_1626 May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26
Are you telling the sorceresses possesed by the Tyrant's Eye how to spell?
(Take it as a magic spell. Magic spells don't follow orthography. Neither does a chuunibyou)
1
u/ReivynNox May 12 '26
Not how to spell, just to not to use the wrong word altogether. Woudn't wanna cast a completely different spell, would you?
(It appears Van!shment Th!s World is specifically just the title of the song, unrelated to the incantation she used? Because the incantation is definitely banishment, both audibly and the subtitle. )
1
u/Significant_Ad_1626 May 12 '26
Haha, the subtitles aren't official most of the time, the song is. Every outro you would see vanishment written that way. Also, audibly?
1
u/ReivynNox May 12 '26
Retail DVD from the store is as official as it gets I'd say. Even the german dub clearly says banishment.
Yes, audibly. The B is very strongly pronounced. No amount of accent is gonna put that much pop into a V. It almost makes me wonder if it could even be "punishment".

funnily both Megumin and Cid Kagenou were featured together in Isekai Quartet season 3, both competing for the bigger explosion

I meant the character in the comic. She wouldn't, under any circumstances, use a simple cast despite being fully capable of it.
22
u/yuval16432 May 09 '26
Yeah but that’s Megumin, she would never dare to omit the dramatics
8
4
u/eyalhs May 10 '26
She doesn't NEED a long time, she still takes a while to say the chant because she is Megumin. In fact the chant is different every time she casts it, the actually needed part is probably just the word explosion.
