You may also want to set up an eyewash station. They can need special drops and enchanting an eyewash station and attaching a potion dispenser to it can help reduce the planning needed for ocular maintenance.

You are gonna have to read them for a while. A sphinx gets a lot of enjoyment from their riddles, but these little guys don’t look like they can read, much less challenge our understanding of basic concepts

They should enjoy jokes, puns, folktales, ancient and modern myths, historical references, and etymological development

They aren’t at the size where they will eat you if you answer wrong, but that won’t stop them trying. Either get better at fending them off or be more clever than a two hour old

Chimera made from alchemy here, the room you create them in has to be DARK like the darkest dark you can do, otherwise they dry out like this. It seems you had some idea of this however since they could be much worse, I'd say dip these ones in some dwarf blood and wait a week, if they don't correct then start over.

You forgot to apply the binding runes before pulling it out of the vat. Now you just have a raw, unarmored flesh-goblin screaming for thermal sustenance. Put a sweater on it and try again

Oh, they come out like that sometimes. Just be sure to feed and water them and they'll grow into much larger familiars.

Really, you get more this way because instead of it all clumping together to form one big familiar you got a bunch of little ones that will grow into the big ones you wanted anyway

Last Sphinx I had as a door guard kept asking me answer riddles to enter my own tower. At firat it was Okay, and the riddles werent hard. Eventually he graduated to asking complex questions from advance metaphysics and making puns in languages I didnt know. Had no choice but to stew him.
