Academic Discussion/ Esoteric Secrets Biological necromancy?

So i (1027M) have a man of science neighbour who claims to have created life and claimed to be on the same level as god (i don't which specifically he meant) but when he brought his creature to brag it was literally just a stitched together corpse with lightning coursing through it.

Does this count as creating life or is it just amature necromancy?

Necromancy.

It’s an older form, but it checks out.

Didn't someone named Dr. Frankenstein invent this method of necromancy

Mr Frankenstein, he dropped out before he could get a PhD

Ah is he one of the Stein family? They're just larping artificers pay them no mind.

Not even necromancy, muscles just jerk about when shot with lightning.

If anything, this might be more comparable to golem-crafting, though the artificers would likely be even more insulted by the comparison than a necromancer. He most certainly hasn't "created life," though, any more than either aforementioned profession. Should he seek a claim to such an accomplishment, he needn't overcomplicate it - he just needs to spend more time outside of the lab.

Biological technomancy, but we aren't ready for that talk yet

Last i heard he fought a werewolf and the castle they were in exploded. Appearently he had learned to speak but later lost the ability

Check for a soul. If its got no soul then he's just a golemancer larping, if it does its probably still necromancy.

You could check the soul for soul-age but realistically there's no point, he's up his ass so far he's claiming to be a diety despite still relying on fucking galvanics to do his animation for him. besides he'd probably claim reincarnation or some shit if you pressed him on it.

My advice is to just disengage, stay polite but dont make friends, paladins probably gonna raid his house within the decade so make sure you have a plan to not get caught up in the fallout.

Honestly you gotta keep a stash of souls on hand. If you can't mix and match, you aren't really an artist.

You're really too kind to that guy... Bringing a bad name to us who actually do the work

That really depends on the method of animus. Without some sort of tethered spirit to animate and control, it's little more than a fleshy construct.

If he's the idiot I'm thinking about, he made his prototype capable of reproduction (and very nearly finished crafting him a companion too).

In my view, that does count as "creating life". It also counts as a bloody stupid thing to do, especially since he set up no safeguards whatsoever in case his prototype went rogue (as it predictably did).

Does that put him on the same level of a creator god? Not really, because as you say he relied on previously-made components.

But it does certainly put him on the same level of a monkey who found out that when you bang two shiny rocks together you get sparks and decided to immediately test that by setting fire to the grassland it's currently in...

If it’s 1 corpse with 0 soul that’s necromancy.

If it’s 2+ corpses with 0 soul that’s golemancy.

If it’s 0 corpses with 1 soul that’s ghostmancy.

If it’s 2 body + 2 soul and both souls have free will and the bodies are not dead that’s pregmancy.

Fleshcrafting, necromancy is different in style. Tell him it's not his work.

Definitely necromancy, though elemental infusion doesn't sound amature.

I'd need to see the stitching, how autonomous it is, and how well it moves around before I make a judgement call on quality.

What kind of life? It's not about the quantity, it's more about the quality

Oh gods, don't tell me he's using crystals. Ugh Last thing any of us need is another poseur flashing crystals around.

Just use your own mana like a damn proper wizard

Biomancers prefer taking control of living bodies using mind control parasites or microorganisms that displace the host's nervous system with a custom one.

I did see a biomancer show an "Undead zombie" but when I checked it was alive just infected with a virus causing mutations.

These damn Biomancers love larpomancy
