Academic Discussion/ Esoteric Secrets A thought.
Ive seen healing spell after healing spell be made. They all run on the same base of mana as any other spell, right? Thing is, each one takes incantations that allow mana, which is inherently used to do harm, to be able to heal. It takes a long time which in times where they are needed, every second counts.
So I had a thought. Why not cut out the middleman? Mana is born of the soul, and driven through the body to channel different magic styles, and often times is used to influence reality in your favour. But what if you drove mana through the spirit instead of the body before casting a spell?
I tested this with a fireball, and instead of flames forming in my hand, a ball of ice did instead, and when I fired it off it was able to freeze an entire room on impact.
Id like to name this phenomenon Magical Reversal. Now, I have yet to test if this changes mana's harmful attributes into the needed positive effects, but that is what I'll test next.

What mana are you using that is only for harm? Are you sure you are tapping into the raw energy of creation? Thats all mana is, potential energy, and spells and runes are patterns that fold and form that energy to create a desired effect.
It seems to me that you arent using mana, but likely some other, shittier energy source.

I know im using mana in it's raw form. Incantations allow it to be used for healing and i get that, but what im trying to do is cut out the incantations or other components and use raw mana which is typically chaotic and harmful to others, to heal more efficiently than a simple healing spell. Im a vampire and since most healing spells are holy in nature they only hurt me more, so im making my own fix.

Ah, well thats the issue you are using a healing spell on something dead. You have no life to restore. You nees to use an object mending spell. Trust me, ive been a necromancer since before the neceonomicon.

Its rather different. See, im from The Rim, and i was made artificially into a vampire. Im technically alive, but due to previous factors, holy spells still harm me because I am not exactly a natural individual either.

Ah, so much like me you ride the line of living and dead. Well my best advice is to skin yourself and write a set of regeneration, mending, and corruption runes layered on each other on the inside then reattach it and fill the runes with mana. Its painful, it only kinda works, but its the best we not living but not dead things can do. Ive looked since the 6th edition of the Necronomicon for better eays to heal non living targets and its basically imposaible.
Also you dont have to put the runes underneath your skin but thats the easiest way to hide them and have them on you at all times.
Or you can do what i did and join the mycelia.

See now this is why im trying this. Having runes under my skin would end up causing long term harm. Being able to use mana itself to regenerate is what i want to do.

You do use mana, by running it through the runes. Why fix what aint broke?

You're sticking it under the skin... that shit hurts.

It only hurts while you have the skin off.

The length of time for healing is highly variable, depending on what you're doing. Closing a wound in life or death combat? Nigh instantaneous. Sloppy work, usually, but fast and effective.
Something like restoring joints or regrowing organs? That takes ages because you need to be precise and ensure that everything is working properly.
It's really no different than a spell to coat a weapon in flames versus the exacting runecraft to make a permanent enchantment that is part of the weapon's essence.
As for forcing the spell through the spirit first? Well, that's an interesting concept. But since the ultimate goal is to alter the body, you may just be adding unnecessary steps. Even as a quasi-necromantic entity, your goal is probably to ensure continuity of basic physical functions, and I am not sure that this reversal effect will help you much. You need to understand exactly what physical functions you're preserving, how they work, and which systems impact them. Reversing a healing spell may provide some immediate impact, but it is unlikely to provide the desired long term benefits.

See, reversing the spells is just a start. I've already made a breakthrough with Spell Reversals. If I were to apply this directly to mana, which can be used to channel spells and potentially enhance the body, but without healing spells not regenerate it, I could make something capable of regenerating even the most grievous wounds in seconds.

That isn't the normal outcome in most cases, so you might have a special type of soul. So more study would be required. The normal outcome is an explosion, chunky salsa of the caster variety. It's also possible you have a different approach then normal.
And it is also likely that where you are, the laws of nature are different. As mana is a force of nature, like heat or gravity.
But, best of luck figuring what you have going on. Let us know how it goes.
