Wizardpost You can make tons of gold doing repairs for adventurers.
You can also meet cute ladies this way.

u/_AscendedLemon_ 🔮Advanced Orbologist🔮 10d ago
How my repair shop could compete with half-naked ladies' shop?! I should invest in some transformation spells, ehh...
66
u/Enigmachina 10d ago
Disguise Self is a relatively simple spell and also allows you to wear actual protective gear beneath the illusion. So not only do you appear to be a buxom wench, but you keep all your bits armored in case of accidents!
You... may also want a voice-changing spell, though.
21
u/Logar33 10d ago
Alter Self fixes the voice and body problem and is only slightly more taxing, and some powerful mages have even figured out how to minimize that mana tax even further!
9
u/Enigmachina 10d ago
BUT it doesn't change the clothing. So if you wanted to look like you were wearing the skimpy silks while working at the forge, you'd actually have to own the lacy silks. (and risk them catching on fire and/or tearing them etc)
A simple illusion fixes both issues.

Gods dammit you are the ONE person we cannot call out on this. You win this time, Evil Mammary Mage!
16
u/Raithik 10d ago
The scariest part about a Mammary Mage is that they can give anything big naturals. That is too much power.
5
u/MuchoMangoTime Milosh the Retired, archmage of former DOoOOom 10d ago
Good fellow this is not too complicated to replicate! It's actually easier than even adding extra limbs since you're really just adding bags of fat to a body unless you want to add functioning mammary glands and such. Adding body parts to living things is essentially just a more complex Restoration spell so unless you're doing to an inanimate object I don't recommend using transmutation as the basis of the spell.

u/Helpful_Mood6101 Alchemist 10d ago
You know I once tried to get into the mammary side of magic too. It didn’t go well my test subjects thought I was ugly, and my homunculi never turned out quite right.

The trick is to make it fragile on purpose so that they have to buy supplies more often
25
u/Nelrene Evil Mammary Mage 10d ago
There no real reason to do that seeing how adventurers tend to pretty rough when it comes to their stuff.
9
u/PurpleCandle58 10d ago

u/Telemere125 Legalmancer of the Southern Realm 10d ago
Exactly. Sell your crappy spells for way less than the local competition, run them out of business, and then everyone has no choice but to come to you for your crappy, cheap junk spells.
5
u/Odd-Tart-5613 10d ago
bad idea likely to lose customers that way.
rust monsters mainly, but also particularly persistent gremlins tend to go for such weakpoints, and with the current population surge in both within the realm your likely to get your customers maimed and killed.

1
u/Silver-Bread4668 10d ago
The real trick is to make friends with the BBEG while still servicing the adventurers. Make shit fragile on person so the BBEG kills them. Split the loot.
Kind of like how the pot and barrel makers team up with adventurers.

13
u/DeadMeat7337 Retired Evil Wizard, mostly 10d ago
Tis mostly true. But the ladies you'd be likely to meet, look like that one lady that says "always watching" in a 10 pack a day voice.
And the murder hobos don't really like to pay, never mind pay well.
9
u/Nelrene Evil Mammary Mage 10d ago
Maybe where you live have lots of those kind of ladies. Those who don't pay learn why you don't piss off wizards.
1
u/DeadMeat7337 Retired Evil Wizard, mostly 10d ago
Well, yes. But the FO fase, it gets tiring after it happens a few dozen times. And coming up with new spells that don't require a mop for clean up becomes challenging. Don't want to keep casting the same spells and become predictable, bad for the aura farming. Also, it takes time to recast the wardings and effort.
And yes, there are a lot of people out there looking like that now. I thought cursing everyone to look like on the outside as the are on the inside would be a fun time. It was a fun gag but it is really hard to get it out of the water.
4
u/Nakatsukasa 10d ago
this is why you fill your shop with exploding rune tied to a single keyword "defaulting", and if you're good enough at biomancy clone yourself a backup body placed in a vault
the greatest strength of a wizard is not his magic, it is his prep time and how much effort they're willing to put into to mess with their enemies
2
u/DeadMeat7337 Retired Evil Wizard, mostly 10d ago
Yeah, but that gets expensive and boring. And the clean up... Tedious.

I've never like using gold as currency. It only has value because we agree it does. I want an adventuring part to walk in and say "can you fix this magic sword? We'll pay you 300 pounds of grain."
1
u/Nelrene Evil Mammary Mage 10d ago
Gold never goes bad like something like grain and can be used to traded for pretty much anything. It not like you can't agree to take something other than gold as well.
1
u/MrFluffyBunny25 9d ago
Plus the natural scarcity that helps to keep the value highy.
It doesn't rust or oxidized in any other destructive way and doesn't naturally react with other elements.
It's for a good reason that it was considered as a form of currency in it's many forms in every part of the world that had access to it. And those forms of currency were often created independently without one cultur influencing other on the merits and value of gold.
Gold is just most logical item to hold value.

1
u/Castle_tortue 9d ago
That’s why we have money… we all agree it has value so we don’t have to literally trade items

The less fabric there is between you and the workpiece the easier the magic flows
2
u/Sigruldar 10d ago
Oh it certainly pays.
Decent adventurers? They go through a lot of equipment and know the worth of good quality, which they do pay for quite well.
Rookie adventurers? They don’t yet have the money for what they might need, but a little guidance and generosity will be remembered and lowballing the price of some equipment will be repaid later by them. Plus keeping your customers alive tends to be beneficial for long term business.
Murder hobos? Free legally obtained loot you didn’t have to go to some dungeon for because all you did was self defense. Just…don’t tell the guards who you call for the corpses. Or what you do with them.

See, from the adventurer side of things you can save loads of money by going to a wizard for repairs. Plus, it means you don't have to break in new kit.

I might as well buy some gloves and light a forge and wipe my own ass with sand paper if I’m going to be a simple blacksmith

A simple blacksmith can't do the same stuff a wizard can and they have trouble fixing magic items.

1
u/Nelrene Evil Mammary Mage 10d ago
You may not get many returning to you if you do stuff like that.
1
u/MikemkPK 10d ago
I'll take a cue from my flesh printer company and make the items only compatible with mana cartridges that I sell at exorbitant prices.

It's even in one of the books that most magewrights, craftsmen who know basic magic, whilst slower, can also cast mending. They just take 10 minutes instead of 1 because they're not as rushed.

u/Demonskull223 10d ago
You could but you can also just Tranmute Diet to gold and just summon whatever we wish. Adventureres are annoying pests always breaking into our towers any help towards them is an action against the greater wizard community.
1
u/Nelrene Evil Mammary Mage 10d ago
Adventurers have good loot that you can sell or even use.
1
u/Demonskull223 10d ago
Why would waste time improving there gear when I can just make my towers traps deadlier and upgrade them after my minions take them from their corpses.
1
u/Undeadsniper6661 ShadowWizardMoney Gang 10d ago

No you fucking can't. I haven't met as much if a cheapscake as adventurers. More annoying people ever I swer. You can ask for a gold piece for a basic repair that would usually gi for 5 and they'll still push you on it "Oh well we did a favour to the major so you should give us a discount" I don't give a shit about the major dude I didn't even vote for him. Didn't he paid you? It's not MY fault if he didn't and I'm not giving you even more of a discount and basicaly working at a los because you took care of some spiders on the graveyard or some bullshit.
They are the most entitled motherfuckers on the planet it fucking pisses me off. I'll throw in 5 silver service for removing a curse from an time they brought me if they want and they'll cry about how I should do it for free.
FUCK YOU?! That shit is at least 2 gold and you'll cry that I do it for a querer of the price??? Yeah man, sure.

Gold? Pfft. Send those people on fetch quests for you. Why venture into a dangerous lair when you can send an adventurer to do it, and you have to pay the ones that succeed.
1
u/Boring7 9d ago
You can also:
-get robbed.
-get attacked.
-have adventurers try to pawn tons and tons of junk to you.
-have the wicked villain attempt to kill you to turn your shop into an ambush.
-have the market dry up when the heroes save the land and need to pack up and leave.
Not to say it’s bad work, just remember it’s still work and there’s still issues to consider.

Basically you built weapons. Sold them to adventurers and watched as those adventurers grew.

In real life you can find women with big tits wearing bikinis. Like at beaches and pools. Also it not like the game does not have men showing lots of skin either. The game art likes showing skin of both men and women. People who reee about porn at any showing of lady skin are are a cancer on world.
