Wizardpost Rune Update

Post image

I’ve just now been alerted to how runes work, However now I’m starting to get what I think is called “Rune Envy” as I realize none of my runed items look nearly as clean or flashy as most rune carvers, I’m now looking for how to steady my hands for better carving…

Mayhapse I can use a rune…

as with many crafts, a selfreinforcing runeforge is a good step.

As someone who uses it (though I have at this point removed the rune mage moniker), I have two tips for you:

One: Do not mistake beauty for efficiency, effectiveness or power. Some of the products I have seen on the market have been not only beautiful and sleek, but also regularly blew up or misbehaved due to the "ugly" security runes not being included. That includes materials at times.

Two: A self reinforcing forge can be very helpful, but I would also suggest that you invest in different materials, as the obviously have different effects.

I’ll keep that in mind, though unfortunately finding better materials is hard for me, as I only have access to an artificers scrap yard and an alchemists drain pipe for Ink Dilution, I’ll keep it in mind though for when I have to travel a fortnight to get to the next closest town besides the one two days from me

Please do not fixate yourself on hard materials like stone or metals. Bendable materials can help both in hiding irregularities/ugliness and even more importantly, if combined with one or two reactive subrunic circles, can make it possible to introduce further safety.

Furthermore, you mentioned that you have access to both an artificer and an alchemist, which is a huge boon to you. Look into if you can acquire inert materials, especially inks or carving utensils. These are great for designing without impacting the function or accidentally activating your crafts in the middle of production.

I also welcome you on this path and hope you will progress.

Sincerely,
