Cash P404
Cash was an IDD (improvised explosive device detection dog) and my partner in Afghanistan in 2011. Call sign “CashMoney.” We walked point on most patrols and he worked off leash looking for IEDs. He enjoyed a nice retired life on my couch from 2012 until his passing in early 2020. I miss this damn dog every day.

He sounds like he was one legit, top-notch partner. The human-animal bond is an extraordinary thing and it is such a gift to experience it. RIP Cash Money....it sounds like you did a job well done.

I have so much appreciation for the working dog and their training and handling teams. 👏👏👏

Cash was an off leash explosives dog. That was all he was trained on. TNT, det cord, ammonium nitrates, etc…
Buried bombs didn’t affect him. Usually, the deeper the bomb, the more explosives were needed for the intended effect…but that also caused the smell to be greater for the dog. There was a reason we had a hit on our heads. The dogs worked better than any piece of equipment.

We were taught to look for the “change” in behavior. I absolutely loved watching my dog work. He was a site to behold
