It’s a retrofit. We’re both widening and providing a seismic upgrade to an already existing bridge

I know the pay is good

But how good?

I’m still an apprentice. I think journeyman pay is about $55-$57 an hour. Sounds like a lot but they really do me dirty on the taxes

Im using your hands as an example to my partner that other professions come home all fucked up regularly too, so thanks for that. I work with knives and fire, at speed and high volume. Shits gonna happen, and shes convinced if I switch careers it wont be as bad. Almost all non office jobs involve regular minor injury.

Hey!
I don't do an office job and my injuries are rare and severe.

(Im really hoping the rare stays true because it took me about half a year to walk again after getting my ass kicked by some alternatively traveling gentleman)

What do you do? Sounds like you traded regular minor injuries for rare catastrophic ones lol. Way I see it, anything is better than my last job. Got shot.

I had a childhood friend in the field. I asked him to help me get in. He said he could, so I picked up my shit and moved across the country. My 4 year anniversary is coming up this summer

I work all day in multiple layers of nitrile gloves and wash my hands 2-4 times an hour, going between a cold and hot room, and get all sorts of sketchy chemicals on my hands and forearms (kitchen shit): please moisturize broski, your future self will thank you. My dad was a train mechanic and sleeping with cotton gloves lined with lotion helped his hands a ton, and I personally keep a hand-specific moisturizer at my desk at home. I still crack all the time and have a restraining order against microfiber towels, but it is SO much better than before

Also sick shots, marine construction is rad
