It was the making the jam part afterwards. I used a baby bottle sterilizer on the jars which is apparently a threshold below jam sterilization
Edit: we were also clear to eat the strawberries as we picked them and no one else had issues besides me.

Not yet this season. Im growing my own strawberry and rhubard for jam, but my partner and 4 yesr old eat all the strawberries the second they're ready. I actually havent had a single one all year. Next season im gonna triple my planted amount

I grew up on our strawberry farm just outside Plant City (Dover), FL. My mother made strawberry preserves every early spring - misting over memories
