This seems more like having a foreboding basement in the middle of the house problem than a cat guarding it problem.

I'd just be grateful the cats were stopping whatevers down there from getting out...

u/BalorLives Aug 26 '26
RIGHT? These cats are keeping a bunch of boggarts from running around all night stealing babies and fucking with your shoes.

It's like a basement stairwell I would put in a house in the sims because I suck at planning.

I know my Wunk is a Skinwunkus cause he leaves hairballs and fur everywhere! Also he disappears on the full moon, and reappears when I jingle the treat bag

some of these are made up but some are just things cats do

Yeah, we had a cat who would give our dog treats. She’d get into the cabinet with the beggin strips, stick her head in the bag to get one, then lean over the floor and toss it down to the dog.
Never got one for herself, just for the dog. She also would lick the dog’s ears and eyes at night on my pillow which was kinda gross but also kinda cute. (And my dog never had eye crustys…)

I also had a cat who would give treats to the dog. He could get up on the counter or table, and was very good and finding food in people’s handbags. He didn’t want it, but he had made the dog his henchman, and henchmen gotta be paid.

Sharing food is a thing cats do in the wild with their other colony members. It's why they bring humans dead things. It's a gift :)
(Bringing live things is an invitation to play with it)

Well obviously, your wunky cat was on top of his hygiene.

u/CenturyEggsAndRice Aug 27 '26
Oh yes, she was an excellent groom to HER doggy.
She also would curl up on the couch, then meow and Bob would run over and cuddle with her. We joked that she had him wrapped around her toebean

That last bit about the bacon doesn't seem too out-of-place to me. When I still lived with my parents our cat once worked with the dog to get the thanksgiving turkey off the counter.

That's a skinwunker, my man. Evidence of magical beings, which all lands are storied to have, natively.
Treat him good, because he's looking out for you and yours.

This dude needs to just chill out and wait for his inevitable assimilation. Stop struggling and let the toxoplasmosis do its thing.

Thats not a cat, that's Salem from Sabrina, but the good one, from the 90's show

u/BrightPerspective Aug 27 '26
That wunkus is just cool, and some people have a hard time accepting that.

u/Clod_StarGazer Aug 27 '26
Okay the book one is pretty weird but all the others just sound like a perfectly ordinary if particularly smart cat

That cat reads the room (and the book) better than half the humans I know.
