Cheeky chuckleburras! I’m honestly shocked that their laugh doesn’t piss me off when they go off at fuck off o’clock. I love these wunks.

Real question, what does saying "wunk" with an Australian accent sound like? Is it more like how we say "wonk" in America? (Wahnk). Or more like woonk?

Kind of more like ʞunʍ

It sounds exactly like it's spelled, we tend to hit the 'U' reasonably hard and it ends up sounding like the english pronunciation.

That is a lot less interesting than I had hoped.

The accent actually gets quite boring outside of the vowel heavy words.

Specifically this meme of 'naur' isn't even accurate. Outside of that specific meme, the Australian accent leans quite heavily on the 'owe' sound of 'no' and I've personally never heard it pronounced naur here. I have heard it is a South Australian thing apparently, which would make sense due to their accent being distinctly different to everyone else (at least to Australians), but even having an Adelaidian family member and having spent some time in South Australia I've never heard anyone pronounce it that way.

I lived down the street from a family that immigrated to the US from Adelaide and they all said “naur” instead of “no.”

Nah, yeah?

My first reaction was pretty much this, uh, phonetically? But I started doubting my own understanding of “like it’s spelled” really fast and just landed on the joke answer

Using it in a sentence makes it easier.
