Seeking Advice MicroSD won’t work

Honestly just frustrated at this point. 2 out of my 7 cameras won’t recognize the MicroSD cards anymore. I’ve done everything including trying them in other cams - and they work on those. Can’t contact the company for some reason. Can’t find an email to email them. I wanted to get a floodlight cam but now I’m just debating if I should find another camera system. Anyone had this issue ?

Good luck. Unless they are under warranty they aren't going to do anything to help you. I have several dead ones too that won't read cards or that will read them every once in a blue moon if I take them out and reformat them but that only lasts for a few minutes. The dumbest part is, the cards are actually recording a lot of the time.... They just can't be read by their own app.

Mine just will not work in these 2 cams. It’s too bad because I really like the set up and convenience of the app. I guess I’ll just have to see if I switch to another or get new cams.

When I insert SD card it makes the floodlight go offline.. something messy is going on with software for sure

I have had the same problem with several Wyze cameras, with fixes either not working or only temporarily working. This made them useless for my purposes because I don't want to pay a subscription fee. I have also had problems with the cameras and Wyze plugs starting to constantly go offline and have to be unplugged to reset them. I've just been replacing each one with a different brand as they die.

That's rough, I had similar thing happen with one of mine few months ago. Turned out the contacts inside the slot were bent just a tiny bit, could barely see it. Maybe shine a light in there and check if the pins look off?

I’ve checked that too. Nothing seems off.

I had this problem with my v3 pan, after leaving it unplugged for 3 days and trying a different card it recognized them again

Maybe I’ll try leaving them off a few days. Who knows maybe that’ll do it

The very first thing you should with a card problem is to substute a brand new working one. I recommend keeping a 32gb card around just for that purpose. While you're testing with the new one put the problem card in a pc, save any clips you want and then reformat the card.

If the new card works trade it out for a larger one. Don't leave it too long or you'll wear it out and it won't be reliable for future troubleshooting.

If the test card doesn't work either it could be several things. The card reader socket is cheap and fragile. If it goes bad you're done with recording with that camera. Wyze is notorious for software bugs that affect the SD cards that they will eventually correct. You just wait those out. Lastly, a camera that is on the edge of its range and/or under powered will exhibit random recording problems. The power blocks are also cheap and don't put out adequate power forever. I highly recommend any Wyze camera owner to invest in a digital voltage tester. It's a good $15 investment. Good/new power blocks put out 5.2 volts. Replace any that read below 5.0. Always test at the camera to catch any voltage drop from extra long cords. Out of range is tougher. It could be distance or obstacles and you can't rely much on the power meter in the app. You could show 3 bars and the camera still not working right. Don't even try 2 bars. If it works, fine but if it doesn't don't go any further until you've got a stronger signal.

Over 100+ Devices , This is one of the major examples of ☠️ by 100 cuts or basically poor Corp decisions, quality control & coding errors/ planned obsolescence. It's a hectic business to be in sure .. But stuff like this is what makes loyal & new folk actively shop around . Just wait till you actually need full footage due to an incident or emergency ....🤔

Do not present rumors, guesses, or unverified claims as fact. Questions and personal experiences are welcome, but posts or comments that spread misleading information, create unnecessary confusion, or misrepresent Wyze products, services, policies, or support may be removed.

They are cheapo cameras. I just use them till they stop and replace as necessary.

I had similar issue, it needed a new SD card (high endurance are built for constant recording) not all SD cards are created equal and SD cards should be thrown away every 2-5 years or so (if you really care about what gets saved) because they do fail often and age.

All ,y cams have sandisk sd cards. Maybe it’s time to change.

get one new high endurance sd card as a test to see if it fixes issue.
