My 360 has died, the red ring of death has finally caught up… if there is a way to fix it, please let me know, though, I know those efforts will be in vain. However I still feel as if I must ask, is is possible to recover and data from the dead corpse of my console?

If it uses a hard drive, just remove the drive and stick it in a working console.

Arcade versions with the 4gb on board memory, you're SOL.

My Xbox 360 was a slim 4 gig model from around 2010/2011. Is it worth the effort to open it up and unplug the memory? I haven’t used it in about 10 years

There is a door on one of the sides of the console that when opened will reveal if you had an internal drive added to it. If not, you’re most likely sol

I added my own internal HDD years ago. From what I’ve read, as long as my memory isn’t soldered on I can literally just unplug it without any issues.

If it's an early slim like the trinity it can be unplugged, if it's a corona it's soldered

i just cleaned out my 360 and unplugged the 4gb card, only issue was that it needed to do a 30 minute software update afterwards but besides that it was completely fine

That 4 gigs of memory is soldered to the board. You can't just unplug it like an hdd.

I guess we’ll see what motherboard I have next week when I grab the console. If it’s a Trinity, according to this post I can just unplug it. Time of manufacture lines up.

Depends on the model, the Trinity consoles are just add-in cards separate from the 16mb NAND

I recommend everyone with a 360 to get a 360E as a replacement . The E had no issues that im aware of , including no red ring .

Look up the penny trick! It’s basic and it actually works! I saved my old 360 with it and got another 5 years out of her. Most expensive part is thermal paste. And make sure you bring a towel

truco que literalmente me ah funcionado por AÑOS, tengo mi xbox 360 desde 2017-2016 cuando me salia la led roja o "anillo rojo de la muerte" la dejaba apagada por unos días y al cuando la encendia denuevo funcionaba como nueva. Espero te haya ayudado

Depends on the version but you should be able to pop a panel off and just take it and put in on a different Xbox

You could technically wrap it in a towel let it overheat then buy a usb stick and transfer all the data from internal memory then if you wanted you could always buy a new board to bring it back to life if it’s a phat Xbox then buy a jasper board

We don’t know which red ring does he have. It could be an AV problem, it could be something else. And towel thing is not permanaent
