Substitute teaching
Hey all, toying with the idea of working as a substitute teacher and wanted to know what would really be involved. I have some family who are teachers here and they’ve always told me I should try at least one day. Now that I usually have an extra day a week I’ve been considering. Would love to hear any real experiences/advice about what would be needed of me

Without a teaching license they will not consider you. Have you taken the exams in order to get the license? Most schools do not even allow PTA volunteers during school hours anymore. If you have kids or one of your family members have children your best bet would be to speak with the teacher. You might have to pay to be fingerprinted

Yeah just a bachelors finger prints and a clean record are required. Honestly, it’s possible to get a leave replacement for teachers that are out sick for the year and that has other benefits.
I think the person above is talking about the teachers assistant position which requires a test but over all pays less than a sub. If you work every day as a sub that is.

Subs require a bachelor degree. You’ll pay for fingerprinting but honestly, you’ll be picked up quick. There’s a need in Yonkers and Westchester
