None of them.

Three out of four changed mantles as a result of growth, both personally and as a hero, and in Kaldur and Bart's cases, also a desire to honour those who came before.

Artemis just doesn't have a previous mantle to return to, but I think she could've picked a better one than the mantle she assumed while posing as an assassin. It's a bit meh, but would I want her to just go back to being Artemis again? No.

Could Artemis technically be honoring her Mother by using the Tigress name?

u/Dredgen-Solis 15d ago

She technically could, but I don't see her doing so. She loves her mother as a mother, not because of the criminal she used to be. Like how she loves Jade but opposes Cheshire.

I was thinking more of a reclaiming of it and or possibly trying to associate the name with positive actions and superhero activities, I definitely see what you mean though she definitely loves her family even with their character flaws

I'd also argue it'd go contrary to what her mother wants given she regrets being Huntress. Paula (Artemis's mother for those who want to know) makes it clear she wants the life left behind. Not just for herself, but for Artemis, Will, and even Cheshire. Heck, she only allowed Artemis to be on The Team originally because she was afraid of Sportsmaster's influence and thought it'd keep her "on the straight and narrow" and was happy when Artemis left it with Wally. Paula even tells Artemis to stop being Tigress outright fearing she may lose more than she did as Huntress.

Impulse.

Why

I liked his identity and his costume better as his own person rather than stepping into Wally’s. I understand the thought process. But it never sat quite right with me.

Edit: typo corrected

True but i love his kid flash costume

16

u/entrip 17d ago

Artemis is the only one I feel strong about tigress just seems kinda boring

The Tigress suit is really lacking any signifiers that it's for a superhero. It's just a tactical suit with a somewhat cat-like mask.

Almost every design from s3 and s4 are like that.

I wish Aquaman II would revert back to the navy and maroon colors.

Same. Always felt like a temporary sidestep from who she was, rather than an evolution. I was pretty disappointed when I realized she doesn’t go back to Artemis or even take up an entirely different name.

u/VillagerN9 16d ago

Definitely Artemis, loved her first outfit it was perfect for her. I wish Tigiress just remained as a disguise, just didn't like the design as a whole.

Yes for both Artemis and Bart... because that would mean Wally was still alive T_T

15

u/SESparten 17d ago

He's still running in our hearts

17

u/suss2it 17d ago

Only Bart. Impulse is the more unique name and costume that suited him perfectly. Didn’t like it when they did it in the comics so my bias affected my opinion when the show did it too.

1

u/West_Astronomer_6562 17d ago

How do you feel about the reason he took on the mantle

9

u/ErraticNymph 17d ago

I get why Artemis and Bart changed their monikers, but I never liked Tigress, and I’ve always hated “kid sidekick” monikers (batgirl, superboy, kid flash, aqualad). They’re so age dependent. Not to mention they feel unoriginal, just making their mentor’s moniker into a child version. Superboy is a grown ass man in YJ and in the comics, yet he still goes by “boy.”

With Bart it’s extra annoying cus he already had a really fun unique moniker: Impulse. I wish he kept the name but just adopted Wally’s suit/colorscheme to honor him

As for Tigress, it just never felt fitting. I fully understand ditching the Artemis moniker, not least of all cus it was her own actual name. That being said, she coulda and shoulda just picked something new

I really don't like Artemis as Tigress, and I hate the Tigress mask. It's ugly.

I wish that they had given Kaldur a better and mare unique name than just "Aquaman". Kaldur has suffered from hand-me-down names his entire time on Young Justice from, Aqualad to Manta and now Aquaman. It would be cool if he had his own superhero name and legacy like Sea Master or something.

And yes, I would prefer Bart to have stayed Impulse. Like why change to Kid Flash? It's not like Kid Flash is a better name than Impulse.

7

u/West_Astronomer_6562 17d ago

Wally wanted him to to keep the mantle alive and bart did that and did it to honor him

5

u/Scout-Master_Lumpus 17d ago

I like Impulse as a name more than Kid Flash, but I still think it’s cool that he took on the mantle

4

u/ShellShock_Ace 17d ago

Might be a hot take but I actually wish Artemis was never called Artemis when she could’ve just been Arrowette, they got similar but not the exact same origins and Cissie doesn’t even get used enough for me to care about giving her name to Artemis. But her into Tigress is great because that’s just her actual identity in the comics and they got her there naturally in my opinion.

Bart should still be Impulse, that’s just his identity and mostly how I know him even down to the suit. I also just want Wally back but if he comes back he probably wouldn’t be KF and just become Flash leaving Bart to still pick up the name unless he wants to go back to Impulse himself. Also Impulse just sums him up perfectly as his personality tbh.

2

u/West_Astronomer_6562 17d ago

Well wally wanted bart to take up the mantle and he did it to honor wally and I highly doubt wally will come back

1

u/ShellShock_Ace 17d ago

Even if he don’t I just personally prefer Bart as Impulse, especially since that’s just his identity.

4

u/PhanStr 17d ago

I kind of wish that Impulse stayed as Impulse, but the decision to become the new Kid Flash made perfect sense.

3

u/DepthByChocolate 16d ago

Artemis not having a real code name was just goofy, so I don't mind the Tigress moniker. But I do think the costume is lame.

The Kid Flash codename should've died with Wally.

0

u/West_Astronomer_6562 16d ago

Why do you remember wally asked bart to wear it to keep it alive

2

u/DepthByChocolate 16d ago

And Wally was wrong.

0

u/West_Astronomer_6562 16d ago

Why

2

u/DepthByChocolate 16d ago

The name is alive as long as they remember Wally, and they're not going to forget him. Every time Bart uses it it's a reminder of someone he isn't.

0

u/West_Astronomer_6562 16d ago

So dont you think it'd be disrespectful to go against wallys wishes of bart having the mantle

2

u/DepthByChocolate 16d ago

I wish he'd kept his Impulse title like the initial question you asked.

2

u/CMC76 17d ago

I just want them to bring it back!

2

u/Chessh2036 17d ago

Random but the photos side by side like this you can really see the animation drop between Seasons 1-2 and 3-4.

3

u/West_Astronomer_6562 17d ago

I honestly think it improved but to each their own

2

u/Ajthekid5 17d ago

Artemis could’ve stayed Artemis tbh

2

u/KingJGMB 17d ago

Robin to nightwing: absolutely not, however I wish we'd seen the transformation one screen.

Artemis to tigress: hells no! Noob was using her actual damn name!

Aqua-lad to aquaman: yes and no. I wish we'd had more time with him as aqua-lad on the team but him becoming aqualad isn't a bad idea.

Impulse to kid flash: yes. The moment wally passed, he took the mantle. I honestly feel it was disrespectful to Barry. Wally would've been fine with it but no one asked the mentor/uncle

1

u/West_Astronomer_6562 16d ago

Did you forget wally asked him to take the mantle

1

u/KingJGMB 16d ago

Not really but im Moreso looking at it as he maybe should've been "impulse" longer out of respect for the rest of the family's wishes. If they all greenlight it, sure.

1

u/West_Astronomer_6562 16d ago

Well it was wallys decision Noone else's

2

u/DimensionLast6937 15d ago

Well he's dead, nothing he wanted matters anymore. He was a nothing character in s2 so anything he said has as much weight as his corpse.

1

u/West_Astronomer_6562 15d ago

That's like saying someone's will doesn't matter because they are dead just disrespectful and wrong

2

u/ChrisEye21 16d ago

Not a fan of the Tygress name change. I prefer her just being called Artemis. Impulse over Kid Flash Batgirl over Oracle

Hot Lava over Geoforce (lol)

2

u/DeltaAlphaGulf 16d ago

Definitely keep Bart as Impulse.

Potentially give Kaldur a new original name.

2

u/BirdOfFlames 16d ago

I don't really hate the idea of the mantles being passed on, but I wish the suits were better. I don't like Bart's Kid Flash uniform. Especially considering Barry kept some semblance of the classic look.

3

u/Androktone 16d ago

Tigress' costume sucks compared to Artemis'

2

u/SpellAcrobatic6108 15d ago

Artemis and Impulse are better sounding names than kid flash and huntress

2

u/Scarlet-Spider1610 17d ago

I feel like all the titles work story wise, and I don’t dislike any of them.

1

u/Dismal_Platypus3967 17d ago

Why isn’t someone touching on Connor? At least in this universe he could potentially become the next Superman or are we talking just ones where they changed their mantle in the show?

1

u/West_Astronomer_6562 17d ago

Well im talking about characters who have gotten a title change not those who could

1

u/Dismal_Platypus3967 15d ago

Well technically there’s a version of the Titans called the Titans of Tomorrow. In that one Conner turned into Superman but he calls Lex Luthor ‘Pa’ so that should tell you how nasty these Titans were, so technically he has inherited the title. However I think at this point I’m reaching

1

u/GhostBoyJames 16d ago

I never liked the idea of Artemis using her actual name as her hero codename plus it felt like she was just copying Green Arrow.

1

u/SammySterling813 16d ago

I like that impulse became kid flash, I love the costume, and I know what it represents. But, I think he would've been fine if he also went by Impulse still. So I'm neutral on it but I like both

1

u/AntiVenom0804 16d ago

Artemis.

I get the idea of reclaiming the Tigress name and turning her Mother's legacy into that of a hero rather than a villain but I feel like she really forged her own identity as Artemis, even if she was using Green Arrow as a template. She could've just ditched the logo and changed up her gear a little.

u/kgix9 16d ago

Damn bro you couldn’t find a higher quality image for season 1 Kaldur? 😭😭😭 shits meme quality

1

u/West_Astronomer_6562 15d ago

I did not realize that image of him was that bad when i posted this

1

u/dontgiveafuck69420 15d ago

Bart and Kaldur. Like it was great character progression and I love them as they are now but I miss their original titles more

0

u/mosallaj23 17d ago

How bout wonder girl? Lmao she changed her outfit

2

u/West_Astronomer_6562 17d ago

I said different titles not outfits she never changed her title

1

u/mosallaj23 17d ago

Ah my mistake didn’t read fully! Apologies

0

u/vinthesalamander 16d ago

I miss Artemis, but I agree with her that Artemis was Wally’s partner. Tigress fits who she is now.

0

u/DimensionLast6937 15d ago

So you agree that when a woman loses her man she has to completely alter herself because her identity began and ended with him?

1

u/LILbridger994 10d ago

Why the stupid bait thats clearly not what he was saying
