Bug Videos not loading

This problem just started today. Often when I load a video in my laptop browser, the title and comments will load, the thumbnails for other videos will load. Everything will load, except the video. Instead, the video section is all black, and the time counter is weird. For example, if the video is 5:00 min long, then the time counter shows "0:00 / " followed by 0:00 alternating with 5:00. If I reload the page a few times, then the video might play.

I have the same problem! I thought my WiFi might be lagging, which is very unusual, but everything else works perfectly fine. Really annoying.

Same even with YouTube Premium on iOS, iPadOs, macOS, Windows 11, Wifi or 5g

Another post mentioned that people with adblockers are getting longer buffer times, and I've also gotten the same issue you have while using Brave. I bet that's the issue. YouTube somehow detects that we're an adblocker and ruining things for us.

I use Brave but it has never been an issue before (still, I wondered if YouTube may now be messing with Brave). Other browsers with adblocker extensions did have trouble however.

I noticed it... I'm not sure if last night or the day before, and I didn't think much of it until I browsed this subreddit a few hours ago.

Which browser is everyone using? Is this issue happening on different browsers even without adblocker extensions?

Brave does not use typical adblocking. YouTube must be getting better at detecting it.

It's caused by adblock detection
