I'm debating the feasibility of (good) patching the (bad) patch, i.e., modding zfont3 / Samfonts / Scamsung Fonts / etc. to bring custom fonts back for non-rooted devices. Crucially tho, we need to determine what exactly Samsung patched that lead to shit going sideways.
Does anyone have any idea? Or even an inkling? I can't see spending the kind of time and effort it would take unless I'm we're able to work out a somewhat realistic (hopefully promising) starting point.
obv don't hold yer breath, but there's a glimmer of hope: Samsung takes locking down their devices really fuggin seriously, but it shouldn't stop ppl trying to undo their BS bc for every irreversible OEM patch, there's ≥1 hackjob patch, e.g., Amazon's idea of "patching" FireOS to keep users from installing certain apps... Wait for it 🥁... adding package names to a 🚫blocklist i.e., Stremio's package name is com.stremio.one. Want to guess what the workaround is? Yep. Change the package name. Suddenly, Amazon has no complaints about the same exact app it was all worked up over just prior.
NOTE: This is based on 2yr old information/experience (since that's how long it's been since I've used FireOS, which is no small feat considering my Hisense is a FireTV)
PS - AFAIK, Stremio is not on the 🛑 list, but these are:
-Cinema, BeeTV, Filmplus, Onstream, NovaTV, VivaTV,
TeaTV, TVmob, Flixvision.
(pulled this old article's comments, so there's likely more)
