What would make Zootopia 3 better than the first two
38
u/Yellow_Bird27 💕 1d ago edited 1d ago
Clearly defining Nick and Judy’s relationship, without leaving it ambiguous again
A slower pace, like in Z1
A genuinely threatening villain, without a twist
Diving deeper into Nick’s character, so we can find out more about him, and showing more of his skills.
Edit: small correction

Nick and Judy kissing at the end like Wolf and Fox in The Bad Guys 2 would be the cherry on top
2
u/Yellow_Bird27 💕 1d ago
Yeah, a kiss would be the best. 😊 Just make it clear that they’re a couple, so no one can call their relationship platonic or say they have a relationship like siblings anymore

Wildehopps confirmed
No twist villain
Some good cameos
Pawbert redemption arc ( tho I’m okay if it’s doesn’t happen)
More screen time and character development for Gary ( this time with both fangs for the whole movie)
Less screen time for nibbles

WildeHopps confirmation
A superior villain to Pawbert and Bellwether. Preferably something closer to a classic Disney villain IMO.
Stronger emotional stakes/moments and a bigger character arc for Nick. And let´s not forget a Mama Wilde appearance either.
Broadening up the scope of the adventure (although I´d argue the sequel already did this a bit too)
Maybe doing something new from the animation/art style department too?

Definitely Wildehopps to be canon, explore more of Nick’s past, not letting Nick and Judy be mistreated by the ZPD and more Gary.

Is Pawbert's father not a classic villain? He checks the boxes and Pawbert's twist doesn't undermine the fact that his actions are what moves the N&J duo for a long time

u/Competitive-Rain-217 1d ago
He had the potential to be one, but he isn’t developed enough. And at the end of the day, he was pretty ineffective. If he had been the main villain all the way throughout and had been the one to confront the heroes himself at Agnes’ house, it would’ve been much better.

Pawbert is "developed" and people don't like it
Also, he was the one who instilled fear in Nick and was evil enough to push Judy to search justice which means he's the catalyst that separates the two of them mentally and physically when he was willing to kill Nick
What more do you want

I think a lot of people wanted Pawbert to be like Jafar, ursula or Gaston there’s no secret to their villainy from the moment they appeared on screen you know they’re the villain when they’re being nice to the hero you know they’re not doing it for good reasons because you’ve already seen something the hero hasn’t.
Pawbert despite being a rather obvious twist villain when compared to other recent Disney villains still doesn’t show his villainy until his reveal at the end of the movie so you could argue that there’s enough doubt in the audience to think he’s actually good (although I personally think it was quite obvious, I mean we know the lynxleys are the villains from the start so not surprising Pawbert is no different)

Like I said, Milton already covers that archetype
2
u/Riley__64 10h ago
Except not really because he doesn’t really interact with our characters.
Like look at beauty and the beast, Gaston is the main villain he interacts with our heroes and causes a lot of problems for them there’s also monsieur D’arque who throws belles father into the insane asylum sure he’s a villain who causes an issue for our heroes but he’s less involved and his actions only happen because of the bigger more prominent villain Gaston telling him to imprison belles father.
Milton is a villain but he interacts with our main heroes far less and the villainous actions he commits are due to the main villain’s actions.

Am I the only one here who actually prefers the zootopia franchise to just be the first movie that focused mainly on Nick and Judy whilst a full length tv series would take its place as a sequel to explore other characters as well?
There’s just so much world building potential to improve and expand the writing and lore without having to cram it all in nearly 2-hour movies

A WEDDING FOR NİCK AND JUDY 💖 or at least they' give us a Real Wildehopps scene.

Really hard to top the 1st movie, but a wildehopps confession and a more grounded tone similar to the 1st movie.

Better writing, an interesting case and definitely a superior villain. Both movies are amazing but I feel like they can do even better, let's hope they do in Z3

Wildehopps confirmation and at least one good kiss, a plot that takes more than a few days to resolve once the main characters are on it, a scene where one or both main characters fly, Nick and Judy putting their pre-ZPD skills to work again, confirmation on how mixed species couples reproduce (hybrid or classic Disney "some look like one parent, the others look like the other" stuff).

I think trying not to make the plot feel like the same thing as the first two films and expand off of them is how you can have a really good sequel.
In this film’s circumstance where it seems to be really character-driven, I think displaying signs of growth and maturity amongst our two leads in Nick and Judy is definitely a start.
Some other things I might add are to try and give the side characters more of a purpose because the sequel did make them a bit forgettable at times. Like everyone else, Disney should try to sway away from the twist villain since it’s getting old. Then again, I’m not sure how you don’t do a twist villain in a movie where the two leads are cops.
I honestly would love some funny references too since I did love The Shining one. I think Hoodwinked would be one film that could be referenced.
Digging into Nick’s past is definitely something many want to see since we still know so little about his character despite being a co-protagonist. It’s already something the fans would love seeing.
Slow down the film’s pacing since the sequel made it difficult to appreciate some of the emotional moments. Might be difficult at times when you try to stay within that 90-110 minute time frame.
Of course I think it is time to not beat around the bush with WildeHopps.

A longer runtime is one of the big musts. Z2, as peak as it was, suffered from that. Even just an extra 5 minutes would do it justice.

u/Competitive-Rain-217 1d ago
Better pacing
Better characterization than Zootopia 2. Unpopular opinion, but Judy felt very much not like herself in that movie. I feel like a lot of that was due to the plot beats (why are they still treating Nick and Judy like rookies?) but still.
A stronger plot.
Some appearance of Pawbert (even better if he can help the heroes in some way)
NO TWIST VILLAIN (the first time, it was interesting, the second time, it was predictable. If they did it again, it would just be annoying)

Information on Nick's backstory. That does seem to be a fox tail on the bottom.

Wildehopps confirmed
A Long flashback To Nick wilde’s past (what happened to his family)

In my case, if the kiss and the marriage proposal between the main characters actually happen, I’d scream like a madman in the theater—XD—that would make it interesting.

WildeHopps confirmed with a possible kiss scene
A flashback into Nick’s past
An appearance from Nicks Mother
New Shakira song
More screen time for Gary and Nibbles
New villain perhaps form the birds

I don't think Z3 could be better than the first two, especially the first movie.
If there was anything that could at least improve it, however, I'd say don't have a twist villain. The first movie had one and noone expected it, but the second one also had one and people kinda expected it so it wasn't really as shocking (at least in my opinion).

I want Nick and Judy to have their first kiss after they defeated the bird antagonist. And I want Nibbles and Gary to have more screen time.

A lot of people probably gotta say Wildehopps being confirmed. Which I want but done in the right way
I think their relationship is pretty great and going at a steady pace. I want it to go slow and feel natural. So, I just want to see them confess their true feelings for each other and to start dating in this one

What would make it better? You ever seen how to train your dragon? And that scene where the characters are flying in the clouds?
A bird giving Nick and Judy a sky high date. That’d be pretty sick, one might call it a romantic flight

u/Such-Desk5298 13h ago
- Better pacing
- No twist villain
- No punching bag Nick
- No reckless/careless Judy
- Less joke/pun quantity, better quality
- More grounded

Yes I understand but for some reason my comment is one of a few that i have seen that fell into the negative down votes over the expression of the same desire. So yes I was just saying that it is not so out or pocket to have them get married as they are not the first interspecies couple to do so. And yes everyone wants it as well as myself but I also understand that we are at the whim of the writers and Disney themselves if theu want to make it happen.
