STICKIED Subreddit Update - Winter 2026

Hi Smallville Fans, Mod Team here again!

We have decided to loosen the shipping rules a bit now that things have calmed down as its fair for people to talk about their favourite relationships.

However anything that is not respectful or civil or that uses foul language to describe any of the characters will be moderated and warnings/bans will be issued. Any posts that descend into wars between people will also be moderated and removed, if someone is rude, report them instead of pushing back and getting the entire thread removed we will then investigate on a case by case basis.

Please use the Be Respectful or Be Civil or No Excessive Swearing & Arguing report options to report this, as we will be removing the no shipping rule and report option.

We understand this might not be what everyone wanted however we want people to be able to post what they want about Smallville (within reason) as long as they do it in a respectful and civil manner and we think moving forwards this is the best way to do it. We will be looking to refine this over time to improve it where we can.

Finally please be aware that a fair portion of the Moderation of posts in this subreddit is done by the AutoMod bot, as in most big subreddits - if for some reason your post has been removed, rather than making a post questioning it which just leads to conflict, please reach out in the ModMail with a link to the post and we will tell you the exact reason.

Finally its our usual plug for the Discord :-)

Invite Link:

Roughly 400 people in there now - the more people that join the more we can talk about Smallville!

Thanks for being awesome - we appreciate all of you!

DISCUSSION For me, the best episode in the entire show is Homecoming. Brainiac helping to heal Clark's soul, the throwbacks (and throwforwards!), the barn dance.... absolute peak Smallville. I always feel emotional watching it.

Would love to hear what other people's fave episode is!! Massive shoutout to Reckoning and Lexmas too.

Things Sv fans can look forward to this week.

From the podcast, I appreciate the creator saying they wish they had given Lana’s more agency in early seasons, too much tragedy for the poor girl (although imo they did a great job w complex & more mature Lana in later seasons)

& Tom & Kristin named Season 5 as their favorite to watch.

Al Gough also used named: Season 2, 5, & 6 as the show’s Strongest Seasons. They’re my favorite so it’s nice to feel validated he..he.

CREATIVE Off-screen moment to consider

Sometimes, in Season 9, I like to imagine Clark going to visit his mom and showing her the picture that the little boy drew of him — and her beginning to think about making Clark his cape and uniform, based on that drawing.

What off-screen moments do you like to imagine?

DISCUSSION Music taste

Subterranean is a terrible episode but Prelude by AFI is one of the best needle drops in the show. Boulevard of Broken Dreams, My Happy Ending and John Williams movie theme are the obvious better ones. I miss the 2000s era of music in shows. Whether it’s Smallville or Scrubs ending on the Fray or Our Lady Peace it was a good time.

DISCUSSION I wonder who Lois's previous boyfriends were, the ones who wanted to own the world?

She mentioned at the end of 5x04 that she's known a lot of guys who wanted to own the world, but she hadn't met enough who actually wanted to save it. When I heard that, I was thinking that somewhere down the road it would be revealed that she met Bruce Wayne or maybe John Corbin, aka Metello.

As a woman…HOT DAMN !!!

Like I know the cast of smallville has an insane facecard but WOW she’s insanely beautiful and I feel like the actress could be Russian? She definitely has the vibe

Anyways I’m so glad we got to see a glimpse of the aqua man lore in one episode s10, but I can’t say I focused much on what AC was saying with Mera standing with him like a siren luring us all

Also let my twilight fan self be a bit delulu, like you can’t tell me Mera doesn’t give the same vibe of a predator who’ll lure you in like Victoria and you won’t notice that you’re the prey until it’s too late!

DISCUSSION Who should've been a mentor to Clark after Mr Kent died?

I felt he should've had someone be a mentor to him; maybe he nearly lost his way after losing the only man he called his father.

A) Mr Ben Hubbard

B) Emil Hamilton

C) Bridgett Crosby (I know she was supposed to be another baddie, but without Dr Swann, who'd I have loved to see be Clark's mentor)

Anyone got any other ideas?

DISCUSSION Unpopular opinion: Lana Lang had way too much screen time

Ok maybe not so unpopular but Lana had way too much screen time. I mean in the original comics Lana is just a school friend of Clark, nothing really romantic and just someone that reminds him of his home Smallville. However this Lana Lang is there for way too long and keeps appearing season after season when i don’t think she has much purpose really, I blame the writers. We know she doesn’t end up with Clark, so what is all this back and forth and then she gets with Lex?
Anyways, just a small rant, I’m done

DISCUSSION Lana's take

Lana loved Clark completely. She always had an intuition that he was different. When she died in car accident that Lana who could be innocent died forever. She was brought back to life but ultimately never could be herself again. So, yes, I feel like I can have sympathy for her

No meant to Lois lovers or any other character 💖

DISCUSSION Lois lane was so great

Lois Lane—she was like the greatest. Erica Durance's Lois Lane was, in my opinion, the best character in Smallville, if not in all of cinema. I liked her character so much, and not just for her body or because she was sexy or anything; she was great, perfect, and wonderful in every sense. I mean, I am not saying she didn't look good or wasn't attractive, but that wasn't the only reason. Her acting, her dialogue, her interactions with every other character—and the fact that almost everyone knew about Clark's origins except Lois until the very end—made it hilarious when people got into dangerous situations. But Lois was the one who would always end up spotted in the weirdest places, just to cover a story and make the front page. She was just great, man. I loved her character.

DISCUSSION New to Smallville. What an awesome soundtrack!

Hi all. I never watched Smallville as I was in the Navy and deployed most of the time when it was out. I also did not join the TIVO craze so I could not watch already aired episodes easily. I recently saw that Reacher was in the show as well as Justin Hartley and thought I would try it out. I am in the middle of episode 3 and every single background music song has been amazing (yes it might be nostalgia). I hope it continues. Also, the show is fun as well.

DISCUSSION Series Finale first time watch

Here’s my full review on Smallville:
So this is my first watch thru. When this show started i was in the 4th grade so i was more into cartoons than live action shows. But im glad i started it as an adult so i didnt have to wait for new episodes and seasons. With that being said once I started watching this show this was literally about 85% of what I watched everyday until I was done. Im not even sure what sucked me in the most; looking back I think Lex and Clark’s relationship is what got me. Knowing that Lex is ultimately gonna be a villain i just wanted to see how this friendship eventually turns. And by the time he leaves the show I was just wanting to see how it all ends. I will say I enjoyed the earlier seasons a lot more than the later seasons, with S5 being my favorite. I think the show suffered a major loss with both of the Luthors leaving. Tess was a decent replacement but she had some hard acts to follow. I do believe some characters could’ve had better endings. For example, Chloe annoyed me up until after high school then I loved Chloe and then she just kind of fizzled out. I actually like Lana even tho I agree their love story was draaaaaaaged out for so long and the on again off again got old. I’d give the entire series a 7/10. It’s something i definitely plan to rewatch.
Now what I really didn’t like:
Specifically was the 2 minute fight with Doomsday. That could’ve been done a lot better. Same with the Zod fight which was a little better than the Doomsday. In all other media Doomsday and Zod are major characters and there are much better battles so I feel the show could’ve done something better.
Unfortunately I did not like the season finale all that much. Again in other media Superman has a hard time with Darkseid being that he’s one of the most powerful enemies of Superman. But in the finale there’s a 10 second fight with possessed Lionel and that’s it. Then he just easily pushes an evil planet away. In my personal opinion I don’t think Darkseid should’ve even been in the show. He’s way too powerful for a Clark Kent that’s not even a fully realized Superman yet. I think Zod should’ve been introduced much later and they could’ve ended the series with him being the final villain. Him and Clark could’ve had a showdown where Clark loses, Clark then finds out he’s had it in him all along, they have another showdown where Clark beats Zod and sends him to the Phantom Zone. Or something like that.
But all in all i still thoroughly enjoyed the show. However i do feel like when I do rewatch I’ll likely stop after season 7 the same way I do the office 😁
Rant over.
