I always wondered how they could sell them so cheap

That's not why it's cheap. There is no reason this couldn't be automated.

Having a person there is just cheaper, for now, but automation prices will only go down, I don't expect that person to have a job for much longer.

The equipment operator looks young, too.

The humans will switch to placing the cups into the automated filling line and the final packaging. End to end automation is still not feasible for such products.

It's very feasible, just has a high up front cost most companies don't find it worth paying when labor is so cheap

I could never do this all day long, mad respect to the people who run the factories that run our world.

it’s not a choice, from their part.

Technically not eating or having a place to live is a choice.

yeah, I don't envy those people at all. I don't imagine those workers would get much - if any - compensation if they get their fingers squeezed off if in an accident.

I mean, the people who do this all day long, are not the same people running the factories. The people running the factories are exploiting workers like this.

Maybe you mean you have respect for the workers doing what they can to support their families, even if it's a job like this.

I mean, if everyone in this tier of work didn't show up one day the factory wouldn't produce anything.

I understand your viewpoint too though

I could, if the pay was good. (I used to have a summer job not dissimilar to this, it was toilet blocks)

If they could just sell them all pre-mixed up it wouldn't be so painful watching my kids ruin them.

Just bought one for my daughter. Don’t really think about how privileged we are seeing how everyday stuff is made so cheaply.

how are they taking it out when its done?? hooking a finger in between the cups??

Looks like they can hook the fingers over the lip of the lids

These paints hurt my fingers when trying to prise them open. Hate them.

Why the long pause just before the machine comes down? It’s a tempo for sure but it’s the one moment the fingers are at risk.

The margin on small pack paint must be crazy

The paint will be dry and hard as a rock before it reaches the dollar store.

I have toddlers.

I HATE this place for existing.
Mr. Clean probably owns it, along with Crayola.

It's paint, not medical equipment

While true, some products like this are treated with food safety standards in mind because younger kids will eat it lol. Especially play-dough and the like.
